Jessica Simpson lobbies Congress for her favorite charity
Email to a Friend Printer Friendly Version

CAPITOL HILL Jessica Simpson had a little to say about her favorite charity, but nothing about her reported refusal to meet with President Bush during a stop in Washington.

Simpson gave a Capitol Hill news conference to support Operation Smile, a group that fixes facial deformities in kids for free. Simpson says her involvement with the group has changed her life.

She went to Kenya to see the group work and got to watch a surgeon operate on a child's face. She says that was a "very spiritual moment."

But when reporters started shouting questions about reports that she wouldn't go to the White House, her handlers whisked her away.
