Ho-Ho-Kus - An Overview
Roughly 20 miles from Manhattan and minutes from the superstores and shopping malls of Route 17, the tiny borough of Ho-Ho-Kus remains stubbornly and charmingly true to its 19th century roots.
That's just fine with the many Ho-Ho-Kus professionals who drive home from the high-rise offices to spacious, turn of the century homes, tidy yards, quiet streets and friendly neighbors.
No chain stores, fast-food restaurants, or blinking neon signs jar the borough's old-fashioned tranquility. Instead, downtown along Sheridan Avenue and Franklin Turnpike consists of a handful of brick and Tudor buildings, occupied by convenience stores, antique shops, a bakery and other shops.
Many homes are on the state and national registers of historic places.
