There are no doubts - Madonna di Campiglio is Italy's most prestigious ski resort. Unlike in Folgarida and the Marillevas, many visitors will not come especially for skiing here, but to spend time among members of the 'upper class'. The atmosphere in the town and on surrounding it slopes is more Italian than in any other resort in this country. You will find the feeling of having a great time with much smaller emphasis on skiing skills and proper style here. He town and slopes are dominated by Italians (around 90% of visitors). A foreigner has to acquire local routines and get used to them, so that complete lack of order at lift lines or loud behaviour no matter where, does not ruin their holiday. Due to its exclusivity, Madonna became definitely more expensive than other Italian resorts. The lion's share of foreigners spending their holiday in the town come from the UK and Scandinavia.
The surveys show that only around 40% of visitors come for skiing purposes. The rest pass their time on walks, attend the swimming pool or take advantage of the huge ice-rink located in the middle of the town.
Meals served by restaurants of Madonna di Campiglio will content every gourmand - large number of Italian visitors forces local chefs to offer traditional cuisine of best and real quality to satisfy sophisticated taste of customers. Italians, also on holidays, are very serious about food. Although prices exceed the national average, restaurants are usually full in the evenings when Italians spend hours together at the table as they usually do at home.
Tourists, who visit Madonna di Campiglio mainly for skiing sensations, have a chance to ski down very sunny trails located on altitude between 1550 - 2500 meters. Even not very experienced skiers can check their skills on the famous "3-Tre" trail. More advanced travelers should take advantage of the Monte Vigo ski lifts and move to the skiing areas of the Marillevas and Folgarida.
The visitor finds variety of accommodation possibilities in the town and its surrounding. Local hotels prepare over 5.000 guest beds for more affluent tourists and there are around 22.000 guest beds more in private apartments of various standard.
