Snowmobiling

The Bozeman area will provide you with some of the most scenic and exciting snowmobile adventures. You will be pleasantly surprised with the terrain and expanse the Bridger and Gallatin mountain ranges offer. As written in the October '97 issue of Snowest Magazine; "Some of the best riding is on, around and near Eaglehead Mountain. This very well could have been where the guy was standing when he coined the phrase Big Sky State."

Snowmobiling around Bozeman

Located in south central Montana, the Bozeman area provides winter enthusiasts more than 350 miles of groomed snowmobile trails. Some favorite riding places close to town include Brackett Creek, Buck Creek, Olson Creek, Hyalite Canyon and Squaw Creek.

The Bridger Range provides short easy rides and a variety of snowy bowls for playing. The snowmobile season begins around Dec. 1 and cool springs can extend the season as late as April.

The photography opportunities are unlimited and the awesome scenery can often include wildlife.

Just south of Bozeman, at Bear Creek, sledders will find the access to the 110-mile Big Sky Trail, ending near West Yellowstone. From there, riders can access Yellowstone Park.

The next few pages will provide maps and descriptions of several prime trails in the Bozeman area. The forest service travel plan lists trails as well as any restrictions. To purchase a $4 copy, call or write the Bozeman Ranger District.
