| VENICE (VENEZIA) |
ISLANDS OF
VENICE |
The city of Venice is famous and unique
for its structure alone, which extends over approximately
120 islands separated by numerous canals all connected to
each other by over 400 bridges.
Consequently, urban travel is almost exclusively carried
out on water (motorboats, public water boats, gondolas and
private boats). In the historical centre, heavily depopulated
(less than 70000 remaining residents) tertiary activities
prevail: administrative functions and industry connected
with the powerful tourist business...

| PADUA (PADOVA) |
TREVISO |
Padova, (Padua) has been
protagonist of Venetian history from ancient times. It was
already an important centre during the Roman era - the historian,
Tito Livio, was born here in BC 59 – as documented
by the remains of an Arena. During the municipal period,
the city’s history was particularly dazzling –
being very important for Christianity, in that S. Anthony,
said to be from Padova, but really originally from Lisbon,
spent the last days of his life here – then expansion
in a great period of cultural and artistic development,
under the dominion of the Carraresi Family...

Situated on the North bank of the Sile River, between the
branch of the River Botteniga (in the so called branches
of the Cagnan di Mezzo, also called dei Buranelli, and the
Roggia), Treviso began its history as a
Paleoveneto settlement, becoming Romanized in ’89
BC, then later the “Municipium Tarvisium,” with
the classic trim town planning positioned on the Cardo (the
present day via S.Margherita, Indipendenza e Calmaggiore)
and the Decumano (present day via Martiri della Libertà).
It was a flourishing centre under the Goti and Longobardi...

| VERONA |
VICENZA |
Enclosed between the double handle of the Adige River on
one side and the hills in the background on the other, Verona
is one of the most tourist and cultural destinations of
Veneto. The city’s evolution started during the most
important eras of Italian history: its geographical position
allowed it to develop a fundamental role from Roman times
to the Renaissance, running up to modern commercial times.
During the Roman era Verona enjoyed its importance and prosperity,
and even today, the remains of that glorious moment, make
the city famous: The Arena, the Roman Theatre...

Vicenza, known in past times as Vicetia,
is situated in an area of Veneto, which includes on one
side the Prealpi and the other side the Monti Berici: a
location, which with the running waters that cross it, the
Bacchiglione and the Retrone, form a characteristic panorama.
More than one hundred high class mansions embellish this
city which due to its architectural quality, attests as
a Venice on the mainland.
The settlement is originally paleoveneta, but during the
Roman era the city began to assume a definite urbanistic
installation. During the Medieval era, it was a Free Council...
