How does Yahoo! protect children's privacy?
The safety and privacy of children is extremely important to us. We encourage parents and kids to use Yahooligans!, a web guide designed especially for children between the ages of 7 and 12. Yahooligans! allows kids to find sites and resources that have all been selected by a team of experienced educators. This ensures that kids are directed to sites that are not only fun but also age-appropriate.

Yahoo! is a general audience web site that complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). When children under age 13 attempt to register with Yahoo!, we ask them to have a parent or guardian establish a Yahoo! Family Account. A Family Accounts feature allows Yahoo! to obtain verifiable consent from a parent or guardian before we collect any registration information from a child. In addition, Family Accounts allow a parent to access their child's Yahoo! account, edit account information, and better control their child's personal information. Yahoo! does not collect any more information from a child than is needed to participate in an activity or game.

Please read our Yahooligans! Parents' Guide for more information and resources on safe surfing. To learn more about Yahoo! Family Accounts, see our Yahoo! Family Accounts page. Please also visit the Yahoo! Privacy Policy and the Federal Trade Commission's web site Kidz Privacy.
