Met Office training in aviation meteorology offers both pilots
and those in the aviation community a comprehensive programme
covering all aspects of aviation meteorology. Whether you are
a beginner or simply looking to learn more, we have a course to
suit your needs.

Getting to grips with the GA briefing
service?
For users of our online service (both free and subscription),
we are considering introducing a one-day course to explain
the information available on the site and how to use and interpret
the products.

| Flight Planning Met. (1
day) |
Flight Planning Met. is designed to broaden and
enhance the flight planner's knowledge of aviation weather in
relation to flight planning and safety. The course is aimed at
those involved in short- and long-haul flight planning and encompasses
topics such as aviation hazards and the interpretation of significant
weather charts.
These courses are run on demand at the Met Office College in
Exeter or at a location to suit an individual planner's needs,
and prices are on application.

| Met. for Gliders (2 days) |

Course details
Met. for Gliders is designed to broaden and enhance the glider
pilot's knowledge of aviation weather, particularly in relation
to low-level route planning and safety. The course is aimed at
glider, hang glider and paraglider pilots of all levels of competency
with an interest in meteorology, or to help delegates prepare
for the meteorological elements of the BGA Bronze 'C' badge by
covering the topics listed in the Met.
for gliders syllabus.

Courses are centred around UK weather, with an emphasis
of practical case studies. The course syllabus can be flexible
to cover any additional topics of aviation meteorology that may
be of interest to you.
- Learn how to make more-informed decisions regarding weather
conditions, both in the pre-flight planning stage, and in the
air.
- See how aviation forecasts are produced and the tools the
forecasters use.
- Take the opportunity to question forecasters and trainers
on any meteorological topic.

- Prices include all tuition fees, lunch, course activities
and tour of the Operations Centre.
- Courses will run subject to at least nine aviators attending.
Should there be less than nine applications you will be offered
an alternative date or have your fee refunded.
