Thank you to everyone who sent in entries for our 'Weather by children' art competition. We had lots of entries, and the standard was very high.

Entries were displayed at the Met Office in Exeter and the winners were chosen by Met Office staff. Over 500 votes were cast. The top three from each category were:

All the winners will receive prizes from the Met Office. The 1st-placed pictures from each age group have been submitted to the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO) as the UK entries for the competition. WMO will choose a selection of pictures from all member states to include in a 'Weather by children' book.
