We stayed at the Hotel Donatello for 1 night early Sept 2004. The hotel is small, but very nice. It does not have a lift at present, but there are plans for one next year, which will be very handy, as we had to lug our suitcase up 5 flights of stairs! with some help though, as the hotel staff are very helpful. The area is not so nice coming from the Temini to the hotel. But otherwise, this is a very good hotel. |

I would definetly recommend this hotel. Even though the rooms are small and there is no elevator, but everything else was great. The staff is extremely nice and helful, private shower is very clean. Convinient location, and very nice breakfast area in the warm months. |

Donatello Hotel at Porte Maggorie looks grim outside but is lovely inside. Ask for a room at the back if poss as main road is noisey. Good breakfast (Twining tea if required) handy for all transport. The free sights are the best, St Peters, the pantheon, the forum etc. It's possible to get to the Appion Way and Tivoli on public transport and worth the effort. Beware of pick pockets - they are very good at their art!!! When you arrive at the airport the train fare to Rome is E19 not as we were charged on the way in E34 or as a friend was asked for E44!!! Take comfortable shoes - and have lots of rests in the bars - milky coffee less than E1 and cakes equally inexpensive. Great place for evening meal in Porte Magorie square. Enjoy!!!! |
