since 1892 and was adopted in 1972 as the official name for Stanford sports.
Home of Champions
Stanford has won 70 NCAA
team championships since 1980, as well as nine
consecutive NACDA director's cup titles, awarded
annually to the nation's most successful athletics
program. From 1990 to 2002, Stanford athletes won
47 Olympic
Medals and 39 individual NCAA championships.

Recreation
The recreation
schedule lists when athletic facilities are open to the Stanford community.
The Athletic Department also offers physical
education classes and summer youth
sports camps. Club
sports offer competition for students, faculty and staff, and intramural
sports encourage participation from the entire student body.

Stanford Stadium
Nothing embodies the Cardinal's rich tradition of academic and athletic excellence more than Stanford
