Nearly flawless weather all year long has created a culture in Huntington Beach that thrives on outdoor recreation and sports. Walkers, joggers and runners abound. There’s no better mix ‘n match of destinations to wander through, around or over than right here.
You can run, jog or stroll down the actual beach itself, of course. If you want to keep the sand out of your sneakers, walking or running along the 8.5-mile paved
Surf City USA™ beachfront trail is another option. What better way to get your heart rate up and burn off some calories all while enjoying a fantastic view of the Pacific Ocean?
Then there’s the Huntington Beach Pier, the longest concrete municipal pier in California. A casual walk of the Pier is what most people do. Take in a sunset, then look further out and you’ll see Catalina Island.
Huntington Beach also offers the beauty of the 350-acre Huntington Central Park and 66 other public parks. The beautiful tree-lined Main Street residential section just off the main commercial district is a nice walk, especially with a stroller in tow. The Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve is a fine example of blending nature along with your foot patrol.
Last but not least, Surf City competes as a runner’s paradise with the annual Pacific Shoreline Marathon and numerous other 5K and 1-mile running or walking events. Be sure to consult the
Events calendar before you visit for details.
