Skateboarding

Skateboarding is more than just a sport in Huntington Beach. It's an actual mode of transportation! It is common to see skateboarders on public streets and sidewalks in transit to school, work or play. It’s a real “kick” to watch Surf City USA™ skateboarders head toward the beach with their surfboards in hand!

Skateboards are permitted on the 8.5 mile paved path that spans Surf City’s beach from one end to the other. The City is so supportive of skateboarding that two free public parks were built. They offer ledges and ramps that are ideal for beginning to moderate skateboard riders.

One skate park is located in front of Huntington Beach High School near the corner of Main Street and Yorktown Avenue. The second skate park is visible from Golden West Street near Warner Avenue at Murdy Park. Knee pads and helmets are required in both locations.

The two biggest events that attract top skateboarders to Huntington Beach each year are the Philips Fusion Soul Bowl and Core Tore. Be sure to check the Events section on this website for more information.

Skateboarding is considered a public nuisance in some areas of HB, too, so be on the lookout for street signs prohibiting it. Skateboards are outlawed on Main Street and on Downtown sidewalks, for instance, as well as at most Huntington Beach shopping malls and strip centers.

Skateboarding is fun and creative way to enjoy Huntington Beach and get around town. Make sure you pack your Surf City USA skateboard when you visit!
