Tennis Tennis anyone? Bring your racket and get ready to play because Huntington Beach is known for some great tennis. Sure, the surfers have the waves, but the tennis players have the courts and it is serious business!
The Huntington Beach climate is a ‘match’ made in tennis heaven for those who enjoy a good game. Guests of the Hyatt and Hilton are treated to exclusive tennis courts that are lighted and cared for. The Hyatt goes from 6am-8pm with longer hours as requested. The Hilton runs from 7am-10pm.
Free public facilities are also available. Most courts operate from morning until 10pm on a first come, first “serve” basis. Facilities with lighted tennis courts can be found at:
· Edison Community Park, 21377 Magnolia Street (at Hamilton Street);
· Murdy Community Park, 7000 Norma Drive (off Golden West Street between Warner and Heil Avenues);
· Marina Community Park, 15871 Springdale Street (at Graham Street); and
· LaBard Park (off Brookhurst at Indianapolis behind the Huntington Beach City School District offices).
Golden West College offers 12 lighted courts up until 8:30pm that are free of charge, too. You may have to dodge tennis classes on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, however.
Courts may be reserved at Edison Community Center, (714) 960-8870, and Murdy Community Park, (714) 960-8895, for $4 per hour. Reservations are accepted two days to two hours in advance. |
