Description
Huntington City Beach is the very heart of Surf City USA™ country. This is where the action is, where people come to see and be seen. Of all California Beaches, Huntington City Beach is a stand out offering the widest, safest, most natural and most action-packed experiences on the coast. Here volleyball courts stretch as far as the eye can see, and web cams are trained on the surf and sand broadcasting the beauty of the beach to all corners of the planet. This beach draws the bulk of the visitors and you'll know why when you feel the excitement and energy in the air where downtown Huntington Beach meets the sand.

When it comes to natural beauty, Huntington Beach is unsurpassed among

California beaches.

Just walk down the Huntington Beach Pier at sunset and you'll see folks lined up waiting for the big flaming orb to sink into the sea. Even better, of all California beaches, Huntington City Beach is one of the easiest to get to. Almost every inch of sand is completely public and restricted only for environmental or safety reasons.

The Pier is the focal point in the sea of humanity that washes on the shores of the City Beach each day. It divides the beach property owned by the city cleanly in two, anchoring downtown and feeding into Main Street's hip collection of dining, shopping and entertainment venues.

Of all California beaches, this is the best the West Coast has to offer. The waves are bigger and better suited to experienced surfers and body boarders than those at Bolsa Chica State Beach to the north or Huntington State Beach to the south. But since they break farther from the shoreline than waves at other California beaches, the water closer in is excellent for swimming. Surfing is not allowed during the summer on the south side of the pier, making Huntington City Beach one of the safest of California beaches.

Dog Beach, at the northern end of the city beach between Seapoint Ave. and Golden West St., is one of the few California beaches where Fido can run free, making it a paradise for pups and animal lovers who enjoy sun, sand and surf. It’s not unusual to see a dog and his owner tandem surfing—one of the unique sights you’re not likely to find at other California beaches.

California beaches offer some of the most beautiful stretches of sand in the world, but few have the special energy and rejuvenating vibe of Huntington City Beach. Here, the most famous name in surfing—Duke Kahanamoku, “The Father of Surfing,” was cheered on and revered. Its here that international sports competitions draw thousands of spectators and televised news coverage of events that include the US Open of Surfing and the AVP Pro Beach Volleyball Tournament. Ongoing events in the area also add to the action including the Farmer's Market and Art A-Faire held each Friday, and free concerts at Pier Plaza throughout the summer.

Sunset Vista RV Park is open from October to mid-March and has on-site electrical and water hookups. Enter on Huntington Street.
