Born in Niagara Falls, NY, Hugh Jeffries attended secondary schools in
Connecticut before entering military service, after which he married his high school
sweetheart, Dotty Lloyd, in 1957. He then entered college, completed four years of
undergraduate study in three years and was elected President of the Honorary Business
fraternity. A member of the first graduating class from the University of Hartford, he
formed his own insurance agency in association with The Travelers, subsequently selling it
to Alexander & Alexander (AON) in 1969. He and his wife then moved to California where
he became a writer and producer for Universal Studios. In 1975, formed his own company to
write and produce TV commercials, promotional and training films, music videos, political
media campaigns, documentaries, and a wide variety of films for the personal growth and
human potential movement. His award-winning work has taken him to 28 countries on five
continents.
He has written feature films (Samurai and Apple Pie), television
dramas (Annie and Earl), voluminous advertising copy (McDonalds, IBM, Suzuki,
Bank of America, VISA, Cadillac et al), tourism films (Discover America Tour
Series, Hawaiian Tourism Film), infomercials (Getting Rich Your Way), music
videos (Motown Records), political campaigns (Bruce Babbitt, Pat Schroeder,
Howard Metzenbaum, Gerald Ford), leaders in the human potential field (Tony
Robbins, Werner Erhard, Leslie Fieger, James Ray, Mark Victor Hansen, Buckminster Fuller,
The Hunger Project, , et al). He was recently commissioned to write a book ("The
End of The World and What to Do About It"), which is scheduled for publication in
the summer of 1999.
A member of the Screen Actors Guild, he has recently been active on
various television programs including Melrose Place, Beverly Hills 90210 and 7th
Heaven. A former TV staff announcer (CNBC) he has appeared in numerous TV
commercials (American Airlines) and is an active voice talent.
