Marketing - I won't say much here. There're a lot of articles and resources on the web about how to market your games. They have it described so well, that I couldn't possibly equal that. One note though: "If it sounds too good to be true, it probabilly is!" However there's one thing I want to say: You can make a living out of writing games! Maybe it won't be as easy as you think, but it's possible. You don't need to be a big company; you can be just as I am: an independent software developer. For all the programmers that marketing doesn't really appeals to them here is the resources you need to know about: RegNow, ShareIt, RegSoft, eSellerate are huge companies specialized in credit card processing. That means that you can make a website, post a demo version there, get people to download your game and if they want to buy it, you can simply use the solutions that one of the above companies offer. It's pretty simple to implement ( not ). All you really have to do is to get you game known to the web ( that would take a few months' work ). If it's too much for you, you can ask other specialized companies to assist, if you pay them a share of the profit ( if I think about it, they give you a share of the profit :( ). But be aware: most of them are profit oriented; if your game is not a top seller probably they won't promote it to what it deserves.
A good resource to point out here would be the RegNow forum. When I launched X-plosive JigSaw, puzzle games I was very confused about what to do and about internet marketing; reading the posts on that forum really helped. Don't worry. In a month or two things will actually start to make sense! At least it's easyer than learning C#...
Final note - I can't believe I wrote that much. Now comes the hard part: to get this article published my major sites ( marketing again :( ). That's a coupe of hundreds of e-mail's I'll have to send to webmasters.... I'm just curios.... did anybody got to read all the article? If anybody got with the reading to this point please drop me a mail saying whatever. Good bye and good luck with whatever your dreams are!
Finally the final note - Now, when I'm reviewing the article I just reminded myself of a very important thing: I actually wrote this article for search engines, not for people to read! It would be nice if people would actually read it, but I gotta drop my targeted keywords here and get on with it: jigsaw puzzle, jigsaw puzzles and some more jigsaw puzzles. Jigsaw puzzle blablabla jigsaw puzzles you know you can't just drop keywords one after another jigsaw puzzle game you have to place something in between puzle game or google would immediately dismiss the page. Jigsaw puzzle games with jigsaw puzzles, at least that's what all the search jigsaw puzzle engine optimization tutorials say jigsaw puzzle. They say in there that a jigsaw puzzle web page puzzle should have somewhere above 1% jigsaw puzzle keyword density and below 10% jigsaw puzzles in it. Im not going for the 10% jigsaw puzzle density, but 3-4% should do it! Let's check if I placed enough jigsaw puzzles in the "copy". Nope, I need 3 more jigsaw puzzles. Maybe two jigsaws. And puzzles. I don't know. Jigsaw Puzzle. Oh, yeah.... I forgot. I have to make a hyperlink to the targeted website :)) jigsaw puzzles. That should do it. Now, for the people that had no idea why so many people write so many articles on the web, and why are they sometimes difficult to read ( or at least weird ), you got your answer; you can blame it all on: jigsaw puzzles.
