Promoting Sustainable Development in the U.S.

The U.S. Government is promoting a growing economy, increased productivity, and better living standards while saving energy, reducing waste and pollution, and using resources more efficiently. To do so, we use the power of markets and incentives, engage in innovative public-private partnerships, help to disseminate best practices and other useful information, and implement sound and supportive regulation. The below summary of more than 70 such programs, while not an exhaustive review of all domestic U.S. government sustainable development efforts, illustrates the types of results being achieved.
