Captain of Luxury Charter Yacht 'Janie':
Don Edwards, USA
Don grew up in Southern California living within a mile of the Pacific Ocean his entire youth. Being the son of a harbor pilot and an avid waterman his whole life, the maritime industry seemed to be his calling. After receiving a B.S in Biology at UC Irvine, he looked back to the sea for a chosen career.
Coming up through the ranks as a deckhand on smaller commercial and private boats he was able to receive his first captain’s ticket at age 26. From then there was no looking back. After running weekend SCUBA charters in the Monterey and Big Sur area of central California he decided to make the first step into a full time life at sea and landed a job as a captain aboard a large live aboard SCUBA charter boat for a worldwide company. Over the next few years he was based in Honduras, Belize, Turks and Caicos, Palau and ultimately Papua New Guinea.
While in the Turks and Caicos, Don met his wife Brigitte who was also working ona charter boat at the time. They then decided to make a career move into the yachting industry and have been happily employed on private and charter boats ever since. Brigitte has recently moved ashore to pursue other interests, but Don remains devoted to his career in yachting. He has held his USCG 1600/3000 ton Oceans Master license for over seven years and is also MCA qualified. He has taught SCUBA, First Aid and CPR for many years. He loves all water sports, reading, fishing and nature.

Chef of Janie:
Deena "Dee" Lynch, England
Although Dee was born in Central London, she spent her youth divided between Perth, Western Australia and the beautiful country side of North Devon in the UK.
Her passion for food started at an early age - and thanks to her grandmother and mother - she grew up in a world surrounded by food and culinary delights. Dee later graduated from Bath Culinary School with a Masters Culinary and also completed a Nutritional Therapy Diploma.
Dee was introduced to the yachting industry in 1991 and has pursued her career as Chef on board both Private and Charter boats for the past 14 years. She takes particular interest in a healthy approach to diet & dietary requirements and enjoys collecting regional recipes/dishes from around the world. Her repertoire and specialties include Asian, Mediterranean, Italian, French and New World cuisine. She prides herself on using only the finest ingredients of fresh and organic produce to support her imaginative flair to create a dish that your taste buds desire.
The combination of good food, great wine and exercise support Dee's healthy life style - she enjoys all water sports... her latest interest... Kite surfing & snowboarding. However a less painful pass time she enjoys is an early morning hike and for any of those feeling energetic before breakfast, you are welcome to tag along.

Janies's First Mate:
Graham Tindall, Scotland
Graham was born in the Scottish capital Edinburgh and raised on both the east and west coasts of the country. Always being close to the sea Graham developed a keen interest in sailing. At an early age Graham joined the royal navy and spent seven years in the catering department. Having bored himself of the military side of the sea he changed career paths and became a police officer – rising to rank of detective.
The lure of the ocean however was too much and after ten years he returned to find the yachting industry. Through working hard and being focused he rose from deckhand to bosun to first mate and did a stint as a captain on a smaller charter vessel. Graham is currently engaged in completing his captains exams (an external project) and is getting closer by the day.
His passions are his motorcycle, fly fishing and the occasional round of golf – do not hesitate to ask if you need a caddy!

Chief Stewardess of Janie:
Jane Bond, New Zealand
Jane has been working in the yachting industry for a little over four years and has in that time clocked up over 20,000 nautical miles and visited some of the world’s most beautiful places. Although she has her 100 ton Yacht Master, she prefers to focus her experience on the service side of the yachting industry. Jane is both friendly and approachable and loves to how off her creative flair. She prides herself on her attention to detail and always aims to exceed every guest expectation.
Before joining yachts, Jane was involved in the hospitality industry and worked in some of New Zealand’s hottest restaurants. She majored in Spanish at University, speaks French with a Quebecois accent and enjoys tennis, recreational diving and dingy sailing.
Jane joined M/Y Janie in September 2004 with her husband Gus and is thoroughly enjoying the challenge of working on such a new and prestigious yacht.

Chief Engineer of Janie:
Alexander "Gus" Bond, United Kingdom
Gus has been involved with yachts of all shapes and sizes his whole life. He began his career as a cadet engineer in the merchant navy and switched to private yachts in 1999. Since then he has been involved with the building and running of sail and motor yachts and feels he has found his niche aboard M/Y Janie. He welcomes you to visit his engine room – a showpiece in mirrored chrome… (of which he couldn’t be prouder) and will happily answer any questions the curious guest may have.
Although born in Singapore, he grew up in England and has been fortunate enough to travel extensively and is close to completing his circumnavigation of the globe. Gus recently completed his MCA recognized Y3 Engineering certificate, is a certified marine firefighter and is constantly striving to further his engineer’s qualifications. His experience and dedication to safety will ensure the time you spend onboard will be relaxed and worry-free. He is an avid diver, loves all water sports and enjoys helping out where ever he can.
Gus joined M/Y Janie in September 2004 with his wife Jane.

STEWARDESS
Karine Lautru, Canada
Karine grew up in Canada in the beautiful French culture that is her home “Quebec City”.
She studied English and Spanish in college for a few years while working in the service industry to fund her tuition. She found a lot of interest in this field and a lot of gratification serving people well. She finally packed her bags in 2001 and decided to improve the languages so she set off to travel the world. Through her travels she was introduced to the world of yachting. This industry seemed to be a great opportunity to fulfill her passion and curiosity about other traditions and cultures. She has been working on yachts for three and a half years. In her spare time you will find Karine under the water diving, snorkeling and enjoying the outdoors.

Alison O'Caroll, Australia
Alison is a bright and cheerful 23 year old Australian who has traveled with her family to many countries in the world throughout her childhood. It was in October last year that she realized it was time to step out and explore the world on her own. She landed in Antigua in February and was introduced to the wonderful world of yachting.
With her safety and stewardess training courses already under her belt, she leapt with confidence and enthusiasm aboard M/Y Janie. Her dedication and friendly hospitable nature will ensure that the time you spend with us will be both enjoyable and memorable.

BOSUN
Steve Foster, Australia
Steve was born and raised in a small country town in Outback Australia. From a young age he developed a passion for the ocean and beaches thanks to weekend trips with his family. As soon as he finished compulsory schooling Steve began furthering his knowledge in maritime related courses. He found his footing in the yachting by way of fast ferry boats in Australia. Sometime shortly after this he discovered the yachting industry abroad and then he couldn’t get on a plane fast enough to pursue his love of yachting and traveling.
He loves all water sports and sports in general. He feels very much at home in the great outdoors. The yachting industry provides a great base for his love of the ocean, traveling and meeting new people. It is great for him to be able to share his passion with others.

DECKHAND
Gavin Taylor, England
Gavin was born and raised in rural England near the beach towns of the English Riviera. From a young age he developed a love of outdoor pursuits such as kayaking and mountain bike racing and has also captained a local swimming team. After spending five years in the financial sector he made a career move to the yachting industry to combine his love of travel and meeting new people.
With his recent safety training and past lifesaving experience Gavin will be an asset to M/Y Janie and he looks forward to ensuring that any experience onboard will be a lasting memory.
