Vinnie Meyers
The 2006 19 th Annual Ocean City Tuna Tournament featured artist is Vinnie Meyers.

This is Vinnie’s first year as our featured logo cover artist. Vinnie began his art career in 1984 as a tattoo artist in South Korea with the US Army while he was serving as a medic. After he finished his term with his country in 1991 he engulfed himself in the art world. Over the past years he has traveled to more than thirty countries learning and practicing the Art of tattooing in places like Russia, Japan, Korea, Hawaii and Samoa.

Only in the fall of 2003 did he begin producing big game fish drawings for fun. Since than he has developed a passion for big-game fishing and the marina art. Recently featured in Marlin magazine January 2006 issue “2006 Marlin Offshore Art Gallery,” Meyers was chosen amongst several artists as the newest, most exciting in marine art. Each year according to the panel of art directors this competition grows and gets tougher. This year with over 100 submissions from forty artists proved to be no different.

The Tuna Tournament Director and committee congratulate Vinnie and are extremely excited to have him involved with our prestigious tournament. We look forward to his participation of art work for many years to come.

Charlie T. Beers
Charlie T. Beers is our official trophy artist. Charlie was born in and raised in the town of Beach Haven, on Long Beach Island, N.J., the son of a fisherman and boat captain, Charlie started out as most-working the bay in the winter and in the summer practically living in the cockpit of his father’s charter fishing boat. Charlie has traveled to Ecuador in South America, Newfoundland, Canada and the Baja peninsula in California for fishing. Charlie has hunted all the big-game tuna, black, white and blue marlin, sailfish, and dolphin. Charlie knows his fish!

Since than Charlie has retired and absorbed him with his second love, woodworking. His first major project was to build a sport fishing boat. He purchased the hull from a manufacturer and then proceeded to build the boat from inside out. These days Charlie fills his days with carving fish.

It is an honor to have Charlie Beers as our official 2006 trophy artists.
