Airlines/Flight Information
Dublin airport is situated about 10 miles from the city centre, on the north side of the city. Aer Lingus (the national airline) and Ryanair are the two main Irish airlines which fly to and from Dublin Airport. There is also another Irish airline, Aer Arann, which is mainly used for internal and cross-channel flights. Aer Lingus is Ireland's national carrier featuring flights to various international locations including Edinburgh, Manchester, Amsterdam, Prague, Vienna, Frankfurt and the USA. Tel: 0845 084 4444 (http://www.aerlingus.com). Ryanair is the country's famous low-cost airlines, which is now one of Europe's largest and cheapest airlines (http://www.ryanair.ie).

Transport
Bus Éirrean, Eurolines and Ulsterbus operate from Dublin's main bus station known as Busáras. This bus terminal is centrally located near Connolly Station. Buses start running between 06.00hrs and 06.30hrs, and the last city centre buses leave town around 23.30hrs. After midnight a limited nightbus service takes over and runs every hour.

Dublin Bus Info: http://www.dublinbus.ie. Tel: 01 873 4222.
The other useful city transport service is the DART (Dublin Area Rapid Transport) system (Tel: 836 6222), which links Howth to the north of the city with Bray to the south in County Wicklow, via such places as Sandycove, Monkstown and Dún Laoghaire. DART services are efficient and the stretch that runs along Dublin Bay from Dalkey to Killiney gives you such an amazing view that it is well worth taking the train just for that.

Because most public transport stops before midnight, Dubliners are forced to rely on an oversubscribed taxi service. Recent limited deregulation has helped alleviate the problem, but long post-midnight lines at designated ranks remain a frustrating feature of the city's night scene. The best served city centre ranks are situated outside the Shelbourne Hotel on St. Stephen's Green, Dame Street (opposite the main gate of Trinity College), Abbey Street (on the right-hand side going up O'Connell Street from the bridge), or close to Jurys Hotel and The Towers Hotel in Ballsbridge. You can also book taxis by phone; some of the more reliable firms include ABC Taxis (Tel: 285 5444), Central Cabs (Tel: 365 555), City Cabs (Tel: 872 7272) and National Radio Cabs (Tel: 677 2222; 24 hours). Finding a taxi after 23.00hrs is difficult, so if you know you will need one, it is best to book early.
