(Houston) Feb. 2, 2006 — Vinson & Elkins LLP is pleased to announce that it has partnered with CanCare of Houston Inc., a non-profit cancer support network, to educate and improve the quality of life of cancer survivors and their families. CanCare of Houston provides services to help companies and their employees manage the personal and emotional cost of cancer. As a community partner, V&E; would provide employees and their family members with access to confidential support volunteers to help them along their journey. "CanCare orchestrates all the vital dimensions of healing," said Mark Hanson, director of administration at Vinson & Elkins. "It marries our enormous capacity for caring with the enormous need to be cared for. V&E; is extremely proud to be a partner of this wonderful organization." CanCare of Houston was founded in 1990 by Anne Turnage, a cancer survivor since 1973. The organization offers free, one-on-one, long-term emotional support to cancer patients and their families. It also offers support for co-workers in the workplace touched either directly or indirectly by cancer, and provides toolkits to help supervisors manage workers affected by cancer. Originally supported by one congregation, CanCare of Houston's ministry now includes more than 75 congregations, eight hospitals and 13 corporate partners.
