No Country for Old Men
by Authors: Cormac Mccarthy

Hardcover
Average Customer Rating:

Nihilistic Vision

McCarthy provides vivid believable characters, an unsparing plot, and a realistic grip on Southwest Texas geography/customs. However, the narrative style is so austere that it distracts and compromises the overall impact. My lasting impression of McCarthy's nihilistic vision is that it increasing reflects an amoral, violent, and meaningless American culture.

McCarthy's modern thriller

Excellent McCarthy as usual but a different kind of story. Tightly written, spare but precise in its descriptions and action, the story moves quickly and often quirkily- characters come and go as in many of McCarthy's books, death is violent and the tension holds throughout. Better than the usual "best seller" international-name fiction available at all good airports today.

I LOVE Cormac McCarthy !

If you like this author, this is more of the same. An updated version of The Crossing. Lots of good cowboy stuff with a healthy dose of wit and appraisal of society today. Great.
