The 9/11 Commission Report: Final Report of the National Commission on Terrorist Attacks Upon the United States (Authorized Edition)
by Authors: National Commission on Terrorist Attacks

Paperback
Description: The result of months of intensive investigations and inquiries by a specially appointed bipartisan panel, The 9/11 Commission Report is one of the most important historical documents of the modern era. And while that fact alone makes it worth owning, it is also a chilling and valuable piece of nonfiction: a comprehensive and alarming look at one of the biggest intelligence failures in history and the events that led up to it. The commission traces the roots of al-Qaeda's strategies along with the emergence of the 19 hijackers and how they entered the United States and boarded airplanes. It details the missed opportunities of law enforcement officials to avert disaster. Using transcripts of cockpit voice recordings, the report describes events on board the planes along with the chaotic reaction on the ground from nearly every level of government. Going forward, the commission calls for a comprehensive overhaul of what it sees as a deeply flawed and disjointed intelligence-gathering operation. The creation of a post for a single National Security Director is recommended, along with the creation of a National Counterterrorism Center. The report finds fault with the approaches of both the Clinton and Bush administrations but, because they were a bipartisan panel and the problems described are so systemic and far-reaching, they stop short of assigning blame to any particular person or group. Credit must be given to how readable the report is. At more than 500 pages, the writing is clear and forceful and the information is made more accessible since it is fre from election politics and rancor. While the commission notes that future attacks are probably inevitable, a coordinated preventive effort along with a clear plan to respond with efficiency can offer Americans some hope in a post-9/11 world. --John Moe

Zelikow's Great American Novel...

Hilariously picaresque, epic in scope - Zelikow's latest THRILLER (after the one he co-wrote with Condoleezza Rice) is a spellbinding page-turner about a secret conspiracy aimed at destroying the Bush's family hard earned fortunes.

The story commences by slowly zooming in on modern-day USA:
"Tuesday, September 11, 2001, dawned temperate and nearly cloudless in the eastern United States. Millions of men and women readied themselves for work. Some made their way to the Twin Towers, the signature structures of the World Trade Center complex in New York City. Others went to Arlington, Virginia, to the Pentagon. Across the Potomac River, the United States Congress was back in session. At the other end of Pennsylvania Avenue, people began to line up for a White House tour. In Sarasota, Florida, President George W. Bush went for an early morning run."

Here we have the leader of the free world, completely unsuspecting of the events about to unfold. Surely, he wouldn't be jogging if he knew something bad was about to happen. We can see that the president is trying to stay fit. What for? So he can better serve his country, obviously. Is this not a leader solely concerned with the well-being of his country?

But then:
"For those heading to an airport, weather conditions could not have been better for a safe and pleasant journey. Among the travelers were Mohamed Atta and Abdul Aziz al Omari, who arrived at the airport in Portland, Maine."

This passage subtly conveys a sense of impending doom by exploiting the reader's foreknowledge. We, the readers, are already aware that there is no such thing as a "safe and pleasant journey" as long as there are people named "Aziz al Omari" arriving at airports in Portland, Maine. Our protagonist, however, has yet to learn this simple fact of life the hard way.

So, these guys with weird names nobody can remember (the author should have given them numbers) somehow manage to hijack a couple of airplanes and slam them, more or less simultaneously, into various buildings - including the Pentagon! Who would have thunk? Certainly not Condoleeza Rice. The Pentagon, in case you don't know, is probably the world's most well-protected building. It has five anti-missile batteries that shoot down anything that comes close (unless the transponder of the aircraft approaching emits the appropriate signal, which means only US-military aircraft can enter the Pentagon no-fly zone). But that is not the point here. Well, turns out the whole thing was planed by some evil, bearded mastermind living in a cave someplace that's not America. Simple enough? Fortunately, a few good friends of the aforementioned jogger find out about this and they all go after him. And the rest, as they say, is history.

WHAT I ADMIRE MOST ABOUT THIS NOVEL is that the author doesn't let boring and stupid stuff like FACTS or LOGIC stand in the way of a good story. Sure, you might argue that a 757 crashing into the Pentagon couldn't possibly fit into a hole only 20 feet wide (because a 757 is 125 ft. wide). Like, duh! Also, in order to hit the Pentagon, the hijacker (Hani Hanjour) had to be an especially skilled pilot. But according to his instructor, he couldn't even drive a car properly. And why doesn't the author even mention the collapse of WTC-7? How come the south tower fell before the north tower (although the latter was struck earlier and had more damage)? Why weren't any flights intercepted? Why didn't they evacuate the school Bush was visting? Questions abound.

But that's just nitpicking, isnt't it?

dense but rewarding

If you can get through the incredibly detailed, dense, lawerly writing style, the 9/11 report is (some might say obviously) the most definitive source I've found to explain the events of that day-- and many days before and since. It took me a while to get through this one, but the information it contains is fascinating, outrageous, shocking, even enlightening. Definitely worth the read if you have time to get into it.

TV Can, Fool Most of the People, Most of the Time!

How many Americans realize, or even suspect, that the entire account of 9/11 that they've been sold since that tragic day, is a complete fabrication? How many could accept that they're even now, being shamelessly played for fools on all things 9/11? None are more deceived than those who think they've been duely informed. Smug in our ignorance, Americans are more like real-life 'Trumans' from the movie: 'The Truman Show'. Seeing the world through the skewed lense of the heavily censored mainstream media, we're largely unable to see beyond the narrow confines of our TV screens. As the TV goes, so goes, the viewpoint of most Americans no matter how false that view may be. Few of us therefore have the slightest clue of what actually occurred on 9/11, let alone what it all means!

Since the government and media went to such great lengths to suppress or destroy all evidence damaging to their official 9/11 story, the government selected 9/11 commission can not possibly be trusted to be either independent, or truthful. Hence this official looking tome containing the 9/11 Commissions "findings" is not worth the paper its written on! No investigation of government by government, can ever be taken seriously, so we must ultimately turn to independent research to know the truth about 9/11. Brilliant independent research has now made the truth of 9/11 available to all who can handle the truth. 9/11 truth has nothing to do with foriegn terrorists, or intelligence failures, but a lot to do with corruption in the U.S. government, treason, and an audacious plot to impose tyranny on the U.S, well on its way to fruition! When compared to the suppressed truth, 'The 9/11 Commission Report' illustrates how thoroughly the public can be deceived when a corrupt government and media conspire to sell official lies as the "truth".
