Feeding The Addictive Appetite  2/23/2006
Capt. Blair has finished up with the Miami International Boat Show and headed back home to repack for his trip to St. Petersburg. While he was at the boat show, reports are that several booths were airing footage of the FLW Saltwater Series from last season. There are a few boat and motor owners that can brag about buying their equipment from the Mogan Man last weekend.

This week, Mr. Producer and The Castin’ Cook (a.k.a. Patrice) were able to pull away from their grueling schedule for a day of fishing.  While out with Capt. Tadd, Trice proved that the sport of catching redfish isn’t just for the men.  Any competitor of the FLW Redfish Series would have welcomed her 7¼ Lb. catch this weekend, but I doubt any of them would be able to bake a lasagna as well as she does.  Put a jersey and an apron on that girl!

Well, Patrice will not be on a boat this weekend, but the Mogan Man will be teamed up with the Taddmanian Devil for the Wal-Mart FLW Redfish Series in St. Petersburg, FL.  This Lazer Sharp Team will be setting their sites on hooking into the trophies on Saturday.

Capt. Tadd says, “I don’t care about the money. I just want to be able to do this!” as he holds a wooden fish raised above his head.

C’mon out to the weigh-in on Saturday!  You may get yourself on TV!  The cameras will be rolling on everyone but all eyes will be on the top five qualifiers as they bring their catch to the stage for the Day 3 finalé of the FLW Outdoors Redfish tournament.  The weigh-in will be held at Wal-Mart located at 3501 34th St. N. in St. Petersburg. Come join the festivities and see if Team Lazer Sharp gets a leg up at the first leg in the series!

Once again, another week means another episode.  This week on Sun Sports Network and AFTV, “From All Around Florida” recaps fishing in various locations throughout the state.   Also, keep an eye on the website in the next couple of weeks.  The new site is coming!

Break a fin boys!

Back and Forth  2/16/2006
The AF crew has been so busy lately I think they forgot what time of year it is.  It sounds a lot like Christmas all over again!  Kevin is talking about wrapping boats, and Blair had a new E-Tec mounted to the 2200 Bay Ranger this week. They are getting ready for Team Lazer Sharp to set the point in the FLW Redfish Tour this year.  Keep checking the AF Forum because I have a feeling that updates and photos will be coming the closer we get to launch time.

Last week, after his trek to the Keys, Capt. Blair made an appearance on a Tampa newscast.  He was a guest on the NBC "Daytime" show about gift ideas for Valentine’s Day.  I talked to Blair beforehand, and he was teasing about suggesting the ladies use a dab of Lunker Sauce behind the ear to really set the mood.  I can’t wait to see this for myself!

This week, Capt. Blair heads back south for the Miami International Boat Show.  He will be there Feb. 16th - 20th and bouncing between booths for Ranger Boats, Raymarine and Evinrude on Saturday and Sunday.  This is the largest show of its kind with more than 2,300 manufacturers and 2.5 million square feet of exhibition space.  If you are in the area, don’t miss this show and be sure to keep an eye out for Capt. Blair.

At the boat show, Raymarine will be toting their 32-foot mobile showroom; Ray-4.  The trailer is fully loaded with the best of what Raymarine has to offer.  With a full line of working demos, you can see first hand the functionality of each unit and pick the one that best suites your needs and your budget.  Ray-4 is a boat show on wheels!

Don’t forget to tune into Sun Sports Network for this week’s episode of Addictive Fishing.  For those of you in the Northeast that just got snowed in, AFTV is online to get you fired up with more action from the Amazon.  Those snow banks will be melted in no time!

Next stop, back to St. Petersburg, Florida!  The Mogan Man moves forth to join The Taddmanian Devil for the start of the FLW Redfish Series.  Be sure to check in next week for a behind the scenes look of behind the scenes from behind.

Mr. Producer, how many rolls of wrapping paper did it take to cover that Ranger Boat?

A Word From The Road  2/9/2006
Mogan Maniacs, the AF crew has been hard to get a hold of this week which only means one thing. . .they are busy! And we all know that when they are busy, it means a few other things.  I have been trying my best to find out just what those “things” are.  I managed to speak with Capt. Blair early in the week, and he shared some tales of his road trip.

Blair finished shooting the footage for BRP’s Ultimate Playground that will air later this year.  He mentioned landing some toothy critters that made some of the participants a little nervous.  I can just picture Blair holding a shark next to a couple of Evinrude outboards symbolizing power, speed, and efficiency in the water.

After the shoot, Blair hung around to do some fishing in the area for a few days and ended up with enough footage for a show or two for the upcoming AF season.  I don’t want to give too much away but there are rumors that barracuda and permit can be added to the menu of shows to come.

Blair even took a trip to the Dry Tortugas.  For those of you who aren’t familiar with the Tortugas, they are located about 70 miles west of Key West and the only way to get there is by sea or by seaplane.  In the mid 1800’s, the construction of Fort Jefferson began but never completed.  With the technological advances of weaponry during construction made the massive fortress obsolete.  In 1992, the Dry Tortugas National Park was designated to protect both the natural and historical features.  Did they show any footage while they were in such pristine surroundings? Even I am going to have to wait for the answer to that question.  Grrrr!

In the mean time, tune in to the Sun Sports Network and AFTV this week for another exciting episode from Marathon Key.  Capt. Blair and Capt. B.J. Meyer take the 35-footer with triple E-Tecs out for some site casting cobia action in the Florida Keys.

Until next week, keep your gills under water.

The Talk Of The Town  2/2/2006
How many places can one face be?  Just ask Capt. Blair!  He can be seen in the new Minn Kota commercial, the Ranger brochure, and Raymarine ads.  But have you seen the February issue of Saltwater Sportsman?  On page 34 is an article featuring Capt. Blair along with 3 other fishing show hosts that answered a list of questions.  It's a pretty fun read!

You will also get a chance to see Capt. Blair on an episode of BRP’s Ultimate Playground.  Capt. Blair made a trip down to Key West this week to “play” in front of the cameras.  The show will be airing later this year on OLN so keep your eyes peeled.  As always, yours truly will bring you the information as it becomes available.

This week’s episode on Sun Sports Network and AFTV takes us back to the days of “Key Hopping”.  Battle Of The Bridge was one of the most watched fishing shows ever!  The show was so big that not all of the footage could be used in one episode so a previously never seen before segment made its way into this week's episode.  If you haven’t seen Battle Of The Bridge or just want to relive one of the greatest break offs ever, go to Google Video and search for AFTV.

Are you ready for the new season of Addictive Fishing?  The new season is still months away, but I hear there's a brand new, never shown before episode coming soon!  Put together especially for this season on Sun Sports Network, March 17th will air “Heavy Hitting”.  Capt. Blair battles with heavy hitting yellowfin tuna in Louisiana before hurricane Katrina devastated the area last summer.  If you like what you see in the show, you could take a piece of it home with you!  The Wellcraft 35 CCF is going up for sale about the same time as the show airs.  As you will see, this monster fishing machine comes equipped with some Mogan mojo!

The green light has been given!  Registration for Mogan Mania V is underway!  MMV is July 27-30 but if you want to come early and stay late, you are more than welcome to do so.  Make your reservations by calling Dockside Inn resort: 800.286.1745.  For more information - Click Here >>

Speaking of green lights, its time for me to go!

Catch ya in the funny papers! …or at least the Mogan Mail.

Additional Addictive Add-ons  1/26/2006
It is my pleasure to introduce to you the Lazer Sharp tournament fishing team of Capt. Blair Wiggins and Capt. Tadd “The Taddmanian Devil” Vandemark.  You already know Capt. Blair so let me tell you a bit about the Taddmanian Devil. Along with his experience as a guide and tournament fisherman, Capt. Tadd also brings the same passion, energy and excitement that Addictive Fishing is known for.  Tadd partnered with Blair last season in the FLW Redfish Series and they finished in the top 20 of the Eastern Division.  This year they have dialed in a program and hope that it will allow them to better their standings.  Welcome aboard Tadd and we wish you both the best for the tournaments to come!

If you would like to see this redfish duo in person, come cheer them on as they weigh their catch at the FLW Redfish Tournament in St. Petersburg, February 23-25.  That’s right!  The format has changed this year and there will be three days of action!  Thursday and Friday qualifiers will narrow the field of 150 teams to the top 5 that will fish for the big money on Saturday.  The TV cameras will be rolling at the Wal-Mart weighin on Saturday, so come on out and see the Lazer Sharp team.  Hold onto your pocketbooks ‘cause the purse just got sweeter!

To get you geared up for the upcoming FLW tournaments, this week on Sun Sports Network and AFTV, Mississippi Fatties is revisited.  Capt. Blair spends a day with Capt. Travis Tanner as they do some pre-fishing for a redfish tournament in Venice, Louisiana.  Boy, this episode was named appropriately ‘cause these reds are some “fatties”!

During the show, keep an eye out for the new Minn Kota commercial featuring Blair and Tadd.  Minn Kota is introducing a nifty new product that makes raising and lowering your trolling motor as smooth and easy as the trunk lid on granddad’s caddy!  The Lift Assist uses a gas charged spring that helps in deploying more quietly.  Just when you thought their trolling motors couldn’t get any better…  What’s next, one that cleans the boat after a messy day of fishing?

Here’s some AF gossip to pass around:  AF is getting back to the roots that they planted in the first season.  For you long-time fans, you’ll remember the black drum episode where Capt. Blair reminisces of his childhood.  There are new tales of bigger tails from the same location, but we are all going to have to wait until the new season to get the full story.  I think I’m going to need a bigger TV!

Put the CoPilot on AutoPilot and motor back here next week!

Repeats and Reruns  1/19/2006
This week on Sun Sports Network and AFTV, Capt. Blair continues to show off the best of Florida’s Space Coast.  Join Blair and his guest, Greg Watts, as they search for gator trout.  In this episode, Blair gives a few pointers on how to use one of D.O.A.’s most overlooked and underestimated baits in their arsenal; the Bait Buster.  If it looks like a mullet and swims like a mullet, it must be a Bait Buster!  Wait ‘til you see how big these trout are!

Coming this summer, the Wal-Mart FLW Outdoors Saltwater Series returns to FSN for it’s second season of redfish and kingfish tournament action.  MPI (McCabe Productions Inc.) has been rehired to produce the show for FSN!  Having the experience of producing great fishing footage such as Addictive Fishing, MPI will once again bring the FLW into your living room.  You’ll feel so close to the action that you’ll need to take Dramamine before every episode!  Congratulations Mr. Producer!

Before the FLW tournaments can hit the air, they have to be filmed.  February 23-25, St. Petersburg, FL will play host to the first leg of the FLW Redfish Series.  150 teams will launch from Tierra Verde Resort Marina to compete in a 3 day event for a grand prize totaling $50,000!  That’s not a bad paycheck!  Capt. Blair has already started doing his homework and getting ready for the start of the new season.  If you’re in the area, c’mon out to cheer him on!

Kevin and Patrice have returned from Colorado with stories and pictures of their grand adventures.  From skiing to ice fishing and visits to Eagle Claw and the local Gander store, the visit to Gander Mountain sounds like a whole ‘nother experience.  With the feel of a campground, a hunting lodge, and a fish camp all wrapped up in one building, there’s no wonder why their slogan is “We live outdoors”!  Now if we could only get them to put one in a warmer climate… like Florida?

Stake out the tent, there’s more to come next week!

Dig Your Claws In  1/12/2006
New equipment, new episodes, old episodes, and a trip to Colorado are among the highlights this week.  So sit back and enjoy the read and don’t forget to start out by humming the theme song before you get started!

This week on Sun Sports Network and soon to be on AFTV, Capt Blair’s trip to the Amazon is revisited.  Some of the meanest and most beautiful peacock bass of South America suck down some of the same top-water baits that can be found in the AF Tackle Shop.  Don’t miss a minute of the action!  Even “jerseydevil” will be able to tune in to get his fix of Addictive Fishing in Maryland from AFTV!

The AF Tackle Shop also has been blowing out T-shirts and hats since Christmas.  The prices have been cut and all AF T-shirts and hats are less than $10 and will remain a super price long enough to stock your sweetie up for Valentine’s Day.  Don’t wait to long to order because supplies are limited!

There are no limitations where the AF Crew is concerned.  This year’s episodes are taking on a new look with the help from some new equipment.  I don’t want to give too much away yet but I will say my eyes still have not popped back into place after seeing some footage of Capt. Blair hooking into a yellowfin tuna off the coast of Louisiana.  This week you can call me a Bigeye Jack.  If you don’t have FSN now, make sure you have it by this summer!

Coming soon to a ski slope near you (as long as you live in Colorado), Mr. AF Producer and Trice take a much needed working vacation.  After blistering the bunny slopes, if they can still walk, limp, or wheel through the snow, they will be taking a tour of the Eagle Claw factory and doing a little bit of ice fishing with marketing director, Chris Russell.  Ice fishing? The closest I want to get to that is fishing around in my glass for a piece of ice!

Eagle Claw has been a big sponsor of Addictive Fishing from the start and continues to support the efforts of the best fishing show on television.  If that’s not enough to get you hooked, Capt. Blair has put together a Mogan Hook Kit.  These are all the hooks you’ll ever need!  The wide gap Lazer Sharp worm hooks are perfect to use with the DOA CAL jerkbaits and the Eagle Claw circle hooks aren’t just for live baits anymore.  Reports are pouring in about hooking a circle hook through the nose of a DOA shrimp works with great success.

Until next week, break a leg!  Coming soon to an ER near you.

He's Baaaack  1/5/2006
Get ready for another season of Jack Attacks!  This roaming pen with a fin, Jack Crevalle, is excited to be back in home waters and rejoined with the Addicted Fishing family.  Each week, there will be new articles keeping you up to date with news about Addictive Fishing, sponsors, the FLW Redfish and Kingfish tournaments, special events and behind the scenes stories.  This week, let’s waste no time and jump right in with both fins!

Last week started a new season of last season’s shows on the Sun Sports Network.  For those Florida fans that could not get the previous network station, you can catch up on or just relive all of the “rod bendin’, drag screamin’ action”. Tune in Friday morning at 10:30 for this week’s show, Space Coast Spoonin’.  See Capt. Blair show off his skills at catching redfish on the Mogan Spoon in his own backyard.

If you forget to set the TIVO, not to worry!  The episode can be seen in its entirety on AFTV.  What is AFTV?  It’s the latest and greatest thing to hit the web!  Check the video section above for past episodes and see which shows will be added each week.  If you have already checked out AFTV, you might have noticed a sneak peek at the new Ranger ad.  It hasn’t been aired yet, but you will start seeing it on TV in the next couple of weeks.  The new Minn Kota spot is soon to follow so keep watching AFTV to see if Mr. Producer slips it in on the sly.

More changes to the AF website are coming!  Plans to launch the newly designed web page have been leaked to me by reliable sources.  The new page is set to go up in March but you may see a few changes between now and then (Like the sponsor page. hint, hint).

Stay tuned for much more news to come.  There’s more on the grill than just Johnsonville Brats!  Capt. Blair and the AF crew are currently shooting footage for the new season that will be aired on Fox Sports Net this summer, the FLW Redfish Tour kicks off next month, the Kingfish Tour starts in April, and anticipation of Mogan Mania 5 has already started running amuck.  The New Year is just beginning and there is more to come!

Now this is how I like to start a new year!
