Old Port Dalhousie just a 20 minutes walk from Bala Place B&B
Old Port Dalhousie is a picturesque harbour front community, with an eclectic mix of shops, restaurants, and historic sites. This is where tall ships once entered the first three Welland Canals. Port Dalhousie is a living museum of the 19th Century architecture, with the lighthouses on the pier, shops, restaurants, theatre and a 5 cent carousel along the restored waterfront promenade. For the past 100 years the community has hosted rowers from around the world in the Royal Canadian Henley Regatta.

from the sun and protection from the elements.
You can walk to Old Port from Bala Place

2 minutes by car.

Antique carousel hosting rides at the nostalgic price of 5 Cents a ride
The century-old Looff Carousel:
This colourful musical delight is a thrill for children
of all ages. The sound of carnival music, laughing children and brightly coloured horses remind us of a more innocent age. You can still enjoy the Carousel for only 5 cents a ride. The unique wooden merry-go-round was built in 1898, and restored in the 1970s. The Carousel is open 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. from Victoria Day weekend until Labour Day.

Come feed the many birds and ducks that live and visit here.
Stroll down the walk way to the pier and feed the ducks, ask the locals about the history of

The piers are a perfect place for an evening stroll. Watch the sun set against the backdrop of the
Toronto skyline some 40 kilometres away,
and enjoy the sight of people fishing as birds glide overhead. The lighthouses on the East Pier were
built in the mid-1800s and are a unique eight-sided design. The inner lighthouse was destroyed by
lightning and reconstructed circa 1898.
This historic building, overlooking Port Dalhousie Harbor, is the home of Theatre In Port and the renowned Port Mansion Restaurant. In 1997 a beautiful and uniquely intimate 80 seat theatre
was created with no seat farther than 15-feet from
the stage. Great care was and is still taken in the exterior and interior coordination of the Port Mansion to retain the period look of old Port Dalhousie and provide a truly unique atmosphere. Enjoy the experience! It will change the way you watch a play.
