stalebread writes "MSNBC has an article looking at an internet-based 'many hands make light work' approach to data sifting. From the article: 'The federal government is making public a huge trove of documents seized during the invasion of Iraq, posting them on the Internet in a step that is at once a nod to the Web's power and an admission that U.S. intelligence resources are overloaded. Web surfers have begun posting translations and comments, digging through the documents with gusto.'"

Take one part googlemaps, one part image analysis (of various traffic maps), throw in AJAX (so that the map is auto-updated every two minutes), and you get a traffic page that tells you where the highway is clogged, and where it isn't. Useful to know if you need to take a detour.
conq writes "BusinessWeek has an interview with the heads of George Lucas' gaming and movie divisions, and discusses with them how they are getting closer and closer to integration. From the article: 'Pre-visualization, which is a big thing that George has been pushing lately. It's a tool that directors would use to quickly mock up the ideas of a story and see what's going to work. It's really like building up a preview of a movie in a video game world. Instead of using static story boards, you can really just get in and create 3D content and camera moves directly. It's the best example of the kind of collaboration we've got going on.'"

Reportedly, Maersk and the country's largest telecommunications company, TDC, are speaking out in favor of such interoperability.

"Monolith's Jeff Orkin pulls the veil back and shows how F.E.A.R.'s AI really worked." It's acctually fairly simple, it makes you think why nobody else thought of it before.
I made a video demonstrating the upgrade and reassembly of an Apple 12" Powerbook G4. Upgrades include a 16X Dual Layer DVD burner, a 100GB hard drive, new speakers with a louder bass response, and a new Apple rainbow logo on the lid. All of this in about a minute and a half! Check it out and let me know what you think.

Someone stuck a camera in a tree, hooked it up to an encoder, and pointed it at a wild Bald Eagle nest. Strangely captivating.... Probably the closest any of us will ever get to one of these birds ;)
