MARATHON
Marathon is a small incorporated city in the heart of the Keys. Marathon is rich in history. At the northeast end of town, you will find Crane Point Hammock, a 64-acre protected area of historic sites, wild flowers, tropical trees and walking trails. Another historic site is Pigeon Key, a tiny island that was home to those who built Flagler's railroad. It can be reached by walking a little more than a mile across the Old Seven Mile Bridge.
Marathon is also home to the world famous Dolphin Research Center and the Turtle Hopsital, which are working to preserve two of Florida's most famous marine creatures. Perhaps best of all, visitors to Marathon can take convenient forays to Key West and the Upper Keys.

Duck Key is divided into five small islands, four that are zoned residential and one that is zoned commercial. The four residential islands are Yacht Club Island, Center Island, Plantation Island, and Harbour Island. About 375 homes are located on the residential islands. The city was founded in the early fifties by developer Phil Sadowski and was incorporated in 1957. The city is situated on 286 acres and contains approximately 1,368 units of housing, 118 undeveloped lots, and development of 11 lots in progress.
