Publishing ProgramSee also: Online Shop Since its establishment in 1901, the National Library of Australia has collected papers, letters and journals, manuscripts, oral histories, books, magazines, newspapers, pictures, maps, films, videos, Australian web sites and online publications. Together, these collections chart our story as a nation and are the basis of the National Library's publishing program. For the general reader, there are books on photography, dance, personal diaries, Australian history, and childhood, all revealing the stories and images of Australia. Australia's folklore is reproduced on CD. Cards, bookplates, wrapping paper, address books, and bookmarks featuring images from the National Library's Collection are also available. And for researchers, students, scholars and librarians there are bibliographies, catalogues and library and information science titles, now primarily delivered online-keys to the world of information. Books in print and forthcoming titles, together with a range of other gifts and merchandise, may be purchased through our Online Shop. Getting Published by the National Library of AustraliaThe National Library of Australia publishes non-fiction books, including biographies, related to the Library's collections, bibliographies and catalogues, library and information science titles. Publications produced by the National Library of Australia contribute to the Library's aims of nourishing the nation's memory, of supporting the vitality of Australian culture and heritage and of demonstrating a strong national focus in all of the Library's services, products and programs. They selectively interpret the Library's collections in order to contribute to an understanding of Australian history and culture; they promote knowledge and use of the Library's resources; and they promote the richness and diversity of the Library's collections. All proposals for publications are considered by the Library's Publications Committee in accordance with the Library's Publications Policy. Authors and researchers wishing to submit a proposal for a new publication should familiarise themselves with this policy, and the incorporated guidelines, and should contact the Director, Publications and Events Branch in the first instance.
