Communities in Northern BC:
Northern BC, as the name implies, covers the top of the province of British Columbia. The region borders the Yukon and Northwest Territories as well as connects to the western frontier of Alaska.
Northern BC also includes the Queen Charlotte Islands, which is the home to the Haida people and some unique animal and plant life. Such rarities exist because not all of the islands were covered by glaciers.
The major centres are Prince George, Prince Rupert and Fort St. John. Dawson Creek, which is 1184 km (735 mi.) from Vancouver, is Mile 0 of the Alaska Highway.
