Captain Steve Zernia
Captain Steve Zernia has owned and operated ProFish-n-Sea Charters in Seward, Alaska since 1994. Capt. Steve grew up on the waters around Seward and is a second generation Alaska fishing guide. He is a United States Coast Guard licensed Master upon near coastal waters and is First Aid/CPR certified. Captain Steve is a member of the SIMRAD Pro Fishing Team, was a founding member and past VP of the Seward Charterboat Association, and is also a member of the National Association of Charterboat Operators.
Captain Steve has been featured in magazines such as Sport Fishing, Saltwater Sportsman, and Fish Alaska. With over 25 years of experience landing trophy halibut, salmon, and lingcod, he is well known for pioneering some of Seward’s most productive fishing areas. In his spare time (winter) Captain Steve enjoys playing hockey, skiing, and chasing warm water pelagic fish such as tuna and marlin. Captain Steve will work hard to ensure that you have a pleasurable, safe, and productive fishing adventure.
Captain Kevin Knight
Captain Kevin Knight was born in Kodiak, Alaska and grew up fishing the saltwater for salmon and halibut. Capt. Kevin is a USCG licensed Master upon near coastal waters and is First Aid/CPR certified. Kevin has been working on the water in Seward for 7 years and has recently spent his winters studying Research Biology at the University of Alaska and Oregon State University.
Captain Kevin shares our enthusiasm for Alaska and, of course, its great fishing. Capt Kevin is highly valued for his energetic personality, his knowledge of the local waters, his great sense of humor, and his ability to produce great catches of fish. These qualities bring fishermen back again and again. Capt. Kevin is the skipper of the ProFish-n-Sea and fills in as relief captain on the Pursuit.
Captain Ben Cheeseman
Captain Ben Cheeseman is a life-long Alaskan with a passion for fishing. Capt. Ben is a USCG licensed Master and is First Aid/CPR certified. Ben went to work in the charter industry after discovering his passion for fishing while growing up fishing here in Seward with his father Bill. He has been working in the Seward charter industry for the last 5 years. Ben has been an excellent student of the fishery and has a great knowledge of tides, currents, weather, and their effect on fish.
Captain Ben has constantly worked to apply new and innovative techniques to produce big catches of halibut, salmon, and lingcod. Captain Ben loves to catch big halibut especially on light tackle. During the winter months Ben studies Business Management at the University of Alaska in Anchorage. Capt. Ben skippers the ProFish-n-Sea and also works part of the time as crew on the Pursuit.
