One of the highlights of this year's Antiques & Garden Fair is the lecture and book signing by renowned author and interior designer Bunny Williams. The lecture and book signing will take place on Friday, April 21, at the Ravinia Festival's Bennett-Gordon Hall, just up the road from the Chicago Botanic Garden. Parking at Ravinia is free for members of the Chicago Botanic Garden. Nonmembers will pay a $5 parking fee.
Bunny Williams is the author of An Affair with a House (Stewart, Tabori and Chang, 2005). Williams, a world-renowned interior designer and garden expert, has her own design company. For almost three decades, her work has been featured in the finest homes across the country. Williams states that her primary objective as a designer is to create relaxed intimate residential spaces.
You can see examples of her designs in such publications as Architectural Digest, House & Garden, Town & Country, Elle Décor, Veranda and the New York Times. Williams also writes a monthly column on style for Elle Décor. Along with antiques dealer John Rosselli, she owns Treillage, Ltd., a home and décor shop in Manhattan.
In her book, she describes how she and her husband renovated an 18th-century New England Manor house that they found in a state of disrepair. The book is filled with detailed photographs and anecdotes about the process of rebuilding and decorating the home. It provides advice on both practical matters and personal touches.
In 1995 Williams was inducted into the Interior Design Hall of Fame. She also wrote a book with Nancy Drew called On Garden Style (Simon & Schuster, 1998) that was awarded the Quill and Trowel award from the Garden Writers Association of America. In it, Williams said, "Gardens are as individual as fingerprints, especially when you include in them plants and objects that have meaning to you. Delve into your memories to find what you most love in a garden." Don't miss this opportunity to hear Williams speak!
