Now we are seeing many minor bulbs in the Bulb Garden, including squills, glory-of-the-snow and spring meadow saffron. Look also for the unusual Fritillaria stenanthera along the lower walk.
Reticulata irises, in shades of violet and blue, are popping open in the Bulb, Sensory, Heritage and English Walled Gardens. The buds of Corneliancherry dogwood and forsythias are starting to show yellow.
Trees are also showing signs of life, with fuzzy flowers developing on willows and catkins dangling from alder trees. See spring arrive at the Chicago Botanic Garden.
