--- FindMyHost Takes a Tour of IPOWER’s New Phoenix Headquarters

Recently, I had the opportunity to sit down and visit with CEO and President of IPOWER, Thomas Gorny. Thomas was also kind enough to give me a personally guided tour of the new IPOWER headquarters now located in Phoenix, AZ.

After the tour of the new headquarters, I was able to sit down with Thomas and discuss how he sees web hosting in the 21st century.

CUSTOMER SERVICE

FMH: Thomas, it was a pleasure to meet you and your staff. I really enjoyed the tour of the new facilities and the chance to meet everyone face to face. FindMyHost likes to go out and meet with web hosts to ensure they are providing consumers with a secure and well-supported environment to host their business or personal sites, and I am glad to see that is the case here.

Can you tell our readers why IPOWER decided to move its headquarters to Phoenix?

We have been experiencing phenomenal growth since we started our company in October 2001, and we realized that to take our business to the next level we needed to find a city that could support our needs for space, the right talent and was not prone to natural disasters! After much searching, we landed in Phoenix, and we are very happy we did.

We found a great facility here that we have made major renovations to in order to greatly expand our operations. During 2005, we dramatically expanded our call center and have established a data center here as well. All of our senior staff moved to Phoenix in 2005 or was already in place.

So, as you can see, we have established some great groundwork to really take our already great customer service and data center capabilities to the next level. (read more)

What is your name and position with Phastnet?
Shawn Mincey, President and founder of Phastnet.

Please tell us the year established and brief history of Phastnet?
I started Phastnet in 1999 with a vision of providing the fastest, most reliable Internet services at affordable pricing. I also wanted Phastnet to be a “one-stop” solution where business and residential customers could purchase all of their Internet service needs in one location. This was not an easy task, since any unreliable service could ruin the reputation of the other services or the whole company. We are able to do this successfully by having strategic partnerships with the best network providers in the industry and managing it all with a friendly team of experts. Our customers frequently let us know how good of a job we’re doing (even cancellations often tell us how good their experience was), and all of our business for the last 5 years has been through word of mouth and other free advertising, so we are confident that we are meeting our goals and only plan to improve. What is your name and position with 1&1 Internet?
Andreas Gauger, Chairman of the Board

Please tell us the year established and the history of 1&1 Internet?
1&1 Internet was established in Germany in 1992 and is widely regarded as the dominant Web hosting player in the European market. We currently maintain more than a 40 percent market share in Germany. In 2000 we launched an operation in the UK, where we are ranked number two in the market, and in 2003 we opened our U.S. office. Since then, we have enjoyed tremendous growth signing more than several hundred thousand customers.

What do you offer your customers that are unique to your company?
We felt that our approach to Web hosting—serving as a one-stop-shop where users get everything they need for a productive Web site all in one place—was something that was lacking and would be welcomed in the U.S. It turns out we were right, with hundreds of thousands customers having joined 1&1 since then.
