NEWS RELEASE 3/7/06 JPS Labs introduces a new reference in high-end cable designs, The Aluminata
Series.

Based on their Particle Aluminum Shield (PAS) first used with their highly regarded Aluminata AC Cable, JPS Labs has successfully integrated the finest shield available with the great clarity of their latest Alumiloy conductors to produce the finest in hand-made speaker cables and single ended RCA and balanced XLR interconnects.

The PAS technology from the leader in RF and EMI rejection is unlike any other shield ever made. All shields attempt to block noise by transferring it to the components, unintentionally increasing the noise floor and reducing ultimate resolution. Each Aluminata cable combines the thickest shield available with RF absorption, isolation, and containment, dissipating the noise within the cable itself. Each cable’s shield has been optimized for it’s intended use and reduces interaction between components, making these the highest resolving yet most universal cables available; Excellent consistent results with any high quality components, in any system, in any environment, anywhere in the world.

From source to loudspeaker, AC outlets to components, each cable within the Aluminata Series offers sound as if the cable were custom tailored for the component. Backgrounds so clean and transparent, so lacking of any form of noise, grain, and distortion, that nothing but the music appears within the deeply layered soundstage. Low frequencies with amazing definition, smooth yet pure midrange on up through the highest of highs. Harmonic details remain intact and in proper perspective out many times the note of origin, making them a perfect fit for glass or silicon based electronics. No exaggeration nor lacking of any portion of the frequency spectrum, in other words the most even and well balanced reproduction possible without dynamic or frequency limitations.

Pricing begins at $2699/pr. for 0.75 meter interconnects, and $7299/pr. for 6 FT/1.8 M speaker cables.

The Aluminata Series offers a holistic cabling solution for the World’s Finest Systems. Auditioning is Imperative. For more information, visit http://www.aluminata.com

NEWS RELEASE 2/27/06 Peak Consult InCognito "X" loudspeaker. Marking 10 years since the release of the very first InCognito 2-way super monitor from Peak Consult, Per Kristoffersen has been hard at work to make a new version of this loudspeaker. We have tried to find out as many details as possible, but Peak Consult is not releasing very much information - saving the surprise for the world-premiere at the HE 2006 show. What we know so far:

  • It will be a floor-standing loudspeaker!

  • It will have deeper low-frequency performance than the standard InCognito

  • The price will not be much higher than the standard InCognito

I've been given no other information about this speaker that I can release, but some information that I must keep confidential. I can only say that this product will be an exciting addition to the Peak lineup, and I can't wait until I get a chance to hear them - based on what I know about the project, the InCognito "X" will be a standard-setter for 2-way loudspeaker performance.

ALSO: The new website for STEREOVOX will soon be launched. We're putting the finishing touches on the pages this week and hope to launch within the week. Stay tuned to www.stereovox.com !

NEWS RELEASE 2/23/06 The now famous Plinius SA-102 and SB-300 amplifiers have been recently updated, and are now called SA-103 and SB-301, respectively. The changes are mostly cosmetic/aesthetic, in that the external styling of both of these products, which are built on the same basic chassis, has been updated to bring it more into line with that of the SA-Reference amplifier. A (by now) standard 12 volt trigger feature has also been added to both amplifiers, and the A/C power switch has been shifted from the front panel to the rear on both amps. The SA-103 now features a pair of micro switches on the front panel to control Class A/AB operation and mute, and a similar micro switch to control standby/operate modes on the SB-301 has been installed on the front panel to improve and streamline the products’ appearance. Plinius’ most basic stereo Class-AB stereo amplifier, the P8, has been renamed the P10, and now features a set of XLR-terminated inputs, as well as the current RCA's. The circuit remains unchanged. The 9200 Integrated amp has added a similar set of XLR inputs to augment the standard RCA'S in order to meet the demand from various distributors. While neither product has been electrically or sonically revamped, which means that neither amp is a true differential circuit, users can nevertheless now utilize a wide array of ancillary components that feature XLR outputs without resorting to external adapters.

These changes reflect the fact that Plinius’ markets are growing and changing around the world. Indeed, at a time when traditional 2-channel High End audio equipment manufacturers are discussing their future and contemplating the manner in which they will try and cope with the growing impact of the home theatre/multi-channel markets, Plinius, with its overall design philosophy and distinctive styling, is growing both in terms of numbers of products shipped, and markets where they are represented, and wants to respond to the needs of its distributors worldwide.

What you have seen so far is just the start of the company’s planned expansion, with a couple of new, clean-sheet models set for launch later this year that will extend the current product range and fill in gaps where the range is incomplete. This work is just part of an overall strategy that will see the company continue its innovative expansion in future years to ensure that the Plinius sound reaches the growing number of people in the world who want to experience the pure joy of listening to music played in their own homes as closely as possible to the way it was originally intended by the performing artists.

NEWS RELEASE 2/23/06 Krell Industries proudly announces shipping of the Evolution 202 preamplifier, Evolution 505 SACD/CD player, and the Evolution 402 and 600 amplifiers from their recently introduced Evolution series. The Evolution-branded products round out the series with new stereo and home theater components that represent the culmination of 25-years of Krell design and manufacturing excellence.

All Evolution components were engineered to be a natural extension of their 2005 counterparts; the Evolution One amplifier and Evolution Two preamplifier. Taking what they learned from those two benchmark products, Krell designed the new Evolution lineup with the same no-holds-barred approach to create an entire lineup of products that are without peer.

Like its predecessor the Evolution One, the new 600 amplifier is a monaural design, except with the advanced power supplies housed in the same chassis. Rated at 600-watts, the Evolution 600 features Krell's proprietary CAST (Current Audio Signal Audio Transmission) circuitry that utilizes current gain topologies allowing the signal to remain in the current domain from input to output. Keeping signals in the current domain avoids unnecessary current to voltage conversions that add distortion, require heavy feedback and severely limit bandwidth.

Krell's Evolution 402, a 400-watt stereo amplifier featuring the same CAST circuitry as the 600 will also start shipping in Q1 of 2006. Both the 402 and 600 utilize a 5000 VA power supply that makes use of extensive electrical and magnetic shielding to keep radiated interference out of critical amplifier circuits. Also featured is the Active Cascode Topology which eliminates global negative feedback (only nested local feedback is employed around individual gain blocks) resulting is an extraordinarily open, liquid, effortless sound.

The Evolution 505, Krell's new SACD/CD player features a unique chassis-in-a-chassis design that provides ultra stable disc drive operation, while damping induced vibration from the electronics. Krell's Current Mode circuit architecture featured in each source is tailor made for SACD because of the format's extended bandwidth capabilities. Krell designed DAC reconstruction filters, Evolution CAST, balanced circuitry, multi-channel output, and RS-232 control combine to make the 505 the most advanced SACD/CD player on the market.

The Evolution 202 preamplifier was designed as a stereo counterpart to the monaural design of its big brother the Evolution Two. Like its sibling, the 202 utilizes a separate chassis for its power supply, making use of electrical and magnetic shielding to keep radiated interference out of critical preamplifier circuits. Bandwidth of the 202 is rated at a staggering 1.5 MHz and is an open loop bandwidth design using zero negative feedback. Elegant but smart, the 202 also features an RS-232 port, IR and 12-volt controls for better integration into a state-of-the-art home environment.

The aesthetic of the new Evolution Series takes Krell's industrial design to an entirely new level. The machined custom aluminum chassis feature a 1.5-inch faceplate that not only looks incredible but fronts the resonance free environment that houses the sensitive electronics contained within. All Evolution series components maintain the stout and structurally sound build quality Krell is known for with the Krell-coat finish giving the components a timeless look with a feel that is inviting and built to last. Components are also available in diamond-cut silver or luxurious black finish.

Product model breakdown, availability and pricing for Evolution products available in Q1 can be found on the following page. For more information, please visit www.krellonline.com.

NEWS RELEASE 2/23/06 Boulder Amplifiers is proud to announce the first product release from the new 800 Series: the 850 Mono Amplifier. The 800 Series, Boulder's initial crossover into multi-channel and surround-sound technologies, is a new product line that not only encompasses single-box players, surround processors, media servers and amplifiers, but also includes new audiophile-targeted integrated amplifiers, preamplifiers, and phono preamplifiers.

Priced at $5000 each ($10,000 for a stereo pair), the 850 Mono Amplifier is a relatively diminutive (30 lbs.), half-width (8.50") amplifier producing 200 watts of high-current output power into an 8 ohm load. Circuit features include Boulder's balanced instrumentation style input section, an all-analog power supply and output section with low heat radiation, full input, output, thermal, and clipping protection circuitry, and supervising microprocessor control. Total BoulderLink communication capability and a complete array of custom installation/external control connections are present on the 850 Mono Amplifier, and will be standard on all 800 Series products. Above all else, build and design quality standards are equal to all other Boulder products.

The 850 Mono Amplifier is essentially one-half of one channel of the acclaimed 1060 Stereo Amplifier. Distortion and noise are exceptionally low while sonic performance and bandwidth are exceptionally high. The majority of retail cost savings results from the reduction of monolithic chassis components and the lowering of maximum output power. Intended to be just as “at home" in a staggered and triggered theater system as well as in a dedicated audio system, the 850 Mono Amplifier was designed to be as flexible as possible. The user isn't forced to choose between a “theater" or an “audio" product – the 850 Mono Amplifier is adaptable to either scenario without compromise.

Entirely conceived, engineered, and manufactured in Boulder, Colorado, the 850 Mono Amplifier is a complete proprietary Boulder design. Avoiding off-the-shelf, switch-mode modules and topologies ensures much better performance and protects residual value. Well known for the most accomplished and advanced cost-no-object products in the world, Boulder has traditionally manufactured products priced beyond the reach of most enthusiasts. With the release of the 850 Mono Amplifier, the Boulder performance they desired but could never afford is finally attainable.

NEWS RELEASE 2/16/06 New heart for analog cult object - Black Cube phono stage redesigned.

When Norbert Lehmann, audio engineer and owner of Lehmann audio entered the market in summer 1995 with the Black Cube phono stage, none could foresee the tremendous success of this rather plain looking product. Audio magazines and thousands of customers worldwide appreciate the outstanding audio performance. The Black Cube has been recognized as a benchmark product in its price class and beyond. It received numerous awards and reached an unrivalled customer satisfaction.

Now there is a new Black Cube 2006! Norbert Lehmann has designed a totally new audio board. Experiences and customers wishes of the last ten years have flown into the design.

The new board version uses roughly the same circuitry but with substantially improved parts and some additional features. The new version version will be in the stores within the next weeks.

New features details:

All MKS capacitors (passive RIAA-filter and output) are replaced by MKPs which have only a fraction of the loss inherent with MKS caps.

  • New input stages, chosen for their plus of transparency and airiness.

  • Chokes in the power supply lines of the audio section for even cleaner supply voltages

  • Dual mono output stages

  • With a High Gain jumper the Black Cube can be better optimized for mid-output MCs.

NEWS RELEASE 2/14/06 Ultra Systems, Inc., of New Hope Pennsylvania has been appointed as exclusive USA importer and distributor for the Audiophile Fuses manufactured by HiFi-Tuning of Berlin Germany. These fuses, priced at $24.95 to $29.95 each, are a performance upgrade for high resolution audio and video components.

HiFi-Tuning Fuses are:

  • hand made and tested in Germany

  • gold over silver end caps

  • pure silver wiring

  • ceramic casing, rather than glass, for better resonance characteristics.

Said Robert Stein of Ultra Systems, "Most high end components use 5¢ fuses. This is a "choke point" in the performance of these components.

We are proud to offer in North America the magnificent Silver/Gold fuses from HiFi-Tuning in Germany. There have been other so-called "audiophile" fuses offered by other manufacturers in the past, but none of those alternatives were as fully developed, or offer this level of performance upgrade."

He continued, "Just how significant is this upgrade? Think of it in the same context as a power cord upgrade, in other words... MAJOR. If you are into high performance audio or video, you need these fuses!"

Fuses include all commonly used values ranging from 100 milliamps up to 20 amps. Both fast and slow blow types are available in the two most common sizes for audio and video components.

NEWS RELEASE 2/14/06 The ongoing adventure of exploration and re-invention that has defined the exceptional Gryphon loudspeaker range continues with the Gryphon Trident. Like its acclaimed predecessors, the Gryphon Cantata and Poseidon, the Gryphon Trident is based on rare insight into the true needs of the music enthusiast,

Gryphon founder Flemming E. Rasmussen elaborates, "It began with the Cantata, the first stand-mounted, compact two-way design to deliver High End realism in small to average sized rooms. Then, the audiophile community demanded to hear what we could do if there were no constraints on size and price. Our answer was the Gryphon Poseidon, a four-tower system that occupies a considerable piece of domestic real estate. That generated requests for a single-enclosure, full-range system that could perform to the same high standards in somewhat smaller rooms."

Living up to the high standards that set Gryphon loudspeakers in a class all their own, the Gryphon Trident achieves the theoretical ideal of all drivers operating in phase at all times at all frequencies.

This monumental achievement involves a unique configuration of dedicated onboard 500 Watt bass power amplifiers in conjunction with 7 extensively modified Danish drive units per speaker (four 8" woofers, two 5" midrange units, one Scan Speak Revelator ring radiator high frequency drive unit), hand-adjusted Constant Phase crossovers, proprietary Q Control room integration and a non-resonant enclosure weighing in at 195 kg per channel with a carefully calculated time-aligned front baffle curvature.

The musical importance of this achievement is immediately appreciated, as it effectively prevents any veiling or smearing in the temporal domain, allowing the Gryphon Trident to re-create the original acoustic event with laser-sharp clarity, alacrity and precision.

Open-ended finish options

Trident side panels incorporate Gryphon SideSpin, an innovative modular construction that makes removing and replacing them child's play, offering the Trident owner the option of re-dressing and updating the exterior of the loudspeakers at any time. This also opens up the possibility of having multiple panels on hand to match changing moods.

Gryphon SideSpin, a service unique among loudspeaker manufacturers offered exclusively to owners of Gryphon Poseidon, Trident and Cantata, is yet another example of how things are done differently at Gryphon Audio Designs.

RRP Euro 70.000 system.

NEWS RELEASE 1/15/06 Nola's Viper line of open baffle speakers has been upgraded for improved performance and fit and finish. The Viper Reference replaces the Viper Signature and is six inches taller than other Viper models.

The Viper Reference utilizes the same twin cast-magnesium bass drivers as used in the Nola Grand Reference—a speaker many regard as the finest available. The midrange is our latest cast-frame Alnico magnet 110mm transducer, originally developed for the Pegasus. Our proven twin Alnico magnet metal dome tweeter reproduces the high frequencies. This transducer provides a wealth of natural musical detail without "etch" or hardness. Both midrange and tweeter operate as open baffle dipoles for the most "open" sound.

The Viper Reference utilizes an external crossover unit with five pairs of solid copper binding posts for connection. Spade to spade jumpers of Nordost Valhalla monofiliment wire connect the crossover to the speakers. The crossovers utilize only proprietary polypropylene capacitors and linear air-core inductors for maximum sound quality. For maximum performance of this advanced crossover system, we recommend the addition of our IP-1 Isolation Platform under the crossover unit. This uses a ball bearing suspension system to eliminate the deleterious colorations that crossover vibrations produce.

All Viper models now use high gloss, solid acrylic sub baffles to stiffen and damp the main front baffle. These not only look better but also further reduce coloration resulting in a more natural sound than that produced by all wood or all polymer enclosures. All drivers are now mounted with machine screws and threaded inserts in the cabinet. Wiring is now hidden and runs inside the front baffle.

The Viper Reference breaks new ground in providing a true reference grade loudspeaker with both a reasonable price and modest footprint.

Retail: $12,000.00

NEWS RELEASE 1/12/06 We regret to inform that on January 8th 2006, Hiroyasu Kondo, founder of Audio Note Japan, passed away peacefully in his sleep while attending the CES audio show in Las Vegas. He is survived by his wife, Kazuko; his son, Yuji; and his daughter, Hisae.

Hiroyasu Kondo, the second son of a Buddhist priest, was a professor of electronic engineering and molecular metallurgy. He founded Audio Note in Japan in 1976, facilitating his desire to develop audio equipment capable of reproducing the essence of artistic performance captured in recorded music. He was often referred to as the "silver smith" for his revolutionary use of age annealed silver in his audio equipment. The Kondo ONGAKU amplifier will forever be a symbol of his success. He was the Picasso of contemporary audio design.

Kondo San had suffered ill health for some time. In order to ensure that the Kondo standard would flourish, he appointed his close colleague Masaki Ashizawa as President of Audio Note Japan six months ago. Ashizawa San has worked with Kondo San for the past 16 years and shared Kondo San's passion for creating "perfect sound."

NEWS RELEASE 12/26/05 Channel Islands Audio is proud to announce the release of our long awaited VDA•2 Digital / Analog Converter. Our new VDA•2 takes Digital to Analog audio conversion to a new level. Traditional DAC designs use brick-wall digital filters, usually followed by more analog filtering to reduce sampling noise, but cause signal degradation in the process. Another approach has been to use no filtering at all, but this adds noise to the analog signal. Both of these designs have their strengths and weaknesses, but neither tends to be a good trade-off. Our design uses only a mild "slow roll-off" digital filter to tame the sampling noise, and no analog filtering. This architecture has reduced filtering artifacts compared to brick-wall types, and lower sampling noise than filter-less types, resulting in a more "analog" sound.

Digital input signals are accepted by Toslink optical or coaxial SPDIF, then fed to the CS8416 24 bit/192k low jitter input receiver, then to the Burr Brown PCM1794 balanced/current output DAC. Our unique output stage is fully discrete and uses a single transistor per output (no op amps) to insure the purity of the output signal. Input selection and digital domain phase are selected by convenient front panel switches, and an LED indicates "LOCK" when a valid signal is being received. The output arrangement allows for 2 pair of single-ended connections or a single pair of balanced outputs (with optional VRX•1 cable pair). An external 14vAC power supply is included.

VDA•2 ($599 USD) is now shipping and available factory direct in the USA, and through various distributors worldwide. NEWS RELEASE 12/26/05 At the 2006 International CES we will unveil The Fremont™ to the world. The Fremont™ is a 2-way, Direct Coupled, full-range design with a 12 inch woofer complement. At first glance, the obvious question may be where is the midrange going to come from? Utilizing his patented Direct Coupling technology, designer Tierry Budge (formerly of Talon Audio and Wilson Audio) has engineered a revolutionary two-way design that actually functions as a four-way!

Although only one 12 inch driver is visible, there are actually two 12 inch drivers acting in tandem with a specially modified dust cap to cover all the bass and midrange frequencies. The dual woofers are configured to maximize all aspects of performance: frequency response extends to 18 Hz; transient response, rise time, and the ability to respond quickly to dynamic musical material are so fast that they place The Fremont™ squarely in the realm of the most exotic electrostatic and ribbon designs.

The high frequencies are beautifully reproduced by a modified Scanspeak Revelator R2904 tweeter, extending effortlessly to 50 kHz. In addition, high efficiency (93dB), extremely high power handling (1,000 watts long term), and easy amplifier load characteristics ensure that The Fremont™ can be used with everything from low wattage SET's to super-powered mono-block behemoths.

However, the most impressive quality of The Fremont™ is the manner in which it can reproduce the dynamic linearity of the original music and the full dynamic range of live music at all frequencies and volume levels. Dynamic linearity can mean the difference between a system that looks good on paper and one that actually sounds like music...a system that won't let you down when you turn the volume up.

The Fremont™, like all Escalante Design loudspeakers, also has the uncanny ability to reveal the textures and true harmonic timbres that are the very heart of each piece of music. The nuances that make music sound real are not lost in the translation from the electronics to the listener's ears. All this, without harshness or fatigue, makes The Fremont™ the ultimate reference for home stereo, recording studios, and hi-fi home theater.

We invite you to bring your music to Suite 1801 at T.H.E. Show (St. Tropez) to experience The Fremont™ for yourself.

…Come Listen.

NEWS RELEASE 12/6/05 Leveraging their patent-pending bass management system previously found only in the Digital Drive® line of subwoofers, Velodyne Acoustics, Inc., the world's leading manufacturer of powered subwoofers for home-theater and consumer audio, has recently introduced the Subwoofer Management System (SMS-1) as a stand-alone unit for use with any subwoofer.

The SMS-1, configured as an outboard processor in a one-inch high chassis, offers all the features of the DSP-controlled Digital Drive room correction software and includes all the tools necessary to maximize the performance of any subwoofer. The SMS-1 comes with a full-featured remote control, a calibrated high precision microphone, mic stand and cables.

"It's the subwoofer's job to integrate into the user's system, not the other way around," said Bruce Hall, president of Velodyne. "There are many factors that affect this integration from room size and shape, to where the sub is positioned, to how the main speakers perform, to the interaction between the mains and the sub. All of these create frequency response anomalies that negatively affect a subwoofer's performance. The SMS-1 offers a simple and innovative solution to correct these anomalies by displaying the response of both the subwoofer and the main speakers in the bass region, and an interactive toolset to correct them. With the flexibility and adjustability of the SMS-1, bass will be noticeably cleaner with better definition with virtually any subwoofer.";

The process for measuring and correcting room anomalies is as simple as placing the microphone in the user's favorite listening position and pressing a few buttons on the remote control. The SMS-1 displays the system's response visually on any TV and provides an 8-band digital parametric equalizer to flatten it. The unit includes an auto-EQ mode that automatically adjusts the equalizer. The SMS-1 also offers complete digital control over crossovers, slopes, phase, polarity and other settings to create a seamless interface between the main speakers and the subwoofer.

The included remote control comes preprogrammed with four fully adjustable listening mode presets for action adventure movies, movies, pop/rock and jazz/classical, plus a fifth open preset that can be set to the user's preference. Each of the five presets can be totally customized. There is also an EQ defeat preset that demonstrates the benefit of the SMS-1 equalizer. In addition, future revisions to the software for the SMS-1 will be available from the Velodyne website, enabling access to new features and functionality incorporated into later designs.

The SMS-1 is available now with a suggested retail price of $749.

NEWS RELEASE 12/6/05 Acoustic Zen Technologies Adagio speaker When the synergy of theory, practice, and technology is optimized to deliver music without compromise, "Musical Enlightenment" is achieved. Robert Lee of Acoustic Zen Technologies has been applying his extensive knowledge and experience to the design and production of some of the industry's most acclaimed interconnects, power cords, and speaker cables in the service of this goal. The results have garnered international awards, but more importantly, yielded musical joy for countless listeners. Finally, after years of development and testing, the transmission of music becomes more complete with Acoustic Zen Technologies Adagio speaker. Within the Adagio speaker, theory, practice, and technology are brought together into a musical harmony. Consider the following elements:

  • Dual 6 1/2 inch woofer/midrange drivers using a specialized sandwich design with ceramic external layers around a fabric internal layer for maximum stiffness while minimizing cone breakup, flexing, and resonance.

  • The drivers have shortened, under-hung voice coils – this technique results in having the voice coil behave in an extremely linear fashion throughout its entire travel. Therefore, this short voice coil / long magnetic field gap motor system significantly results in a ten time reduction of both harmonic and TIM distortion, compared to a conventional over-hung voice coil driver design..

  • The tweeter is a limited production, specially modified circular ribbon that has exceptional dispersion, transient, and power handling characteristics along with a linear impedance and phase response. This eliminates the difference between the upright and parallel radiation angles. The 0.01mm heat resistant Kapton membrane is almost weightless, providing an immediate and precise response to any transients in the original music signal.

  • The curved surfaces of the time and phase aligned cabinet minimize external diffraction while reducing internal standing waves. Combining the best of both worlds, the port is actually a part of the internal transmission line system. The resulting bass is fast, tight, deep, and musical.

  • With an efficiency rating of 89 dB, coupled with an ability to handle virtually any unclipped amplifier power output, life-like sound pressure levels are attained, without compression, all from a speaker with a small footprint.

To fully experience the "Musical Enlightenment" of Acoustic Zen Technologies Adagio speaker, Robert Lee invites you to visit suites 1505 and 1507 at T.H.E. Show during the 2006 CES, from January 5th through 8th.

The MANLEY brand has had a strong presence in the hifi market since its first vacuum tube power amplifiers were produced in 1988. The Manley Laboratories, Inc. factory opened in 1993 and has blossomed under EveAnna Manley's leadership to become one of the world's most recognized names in vacuum tube audio, both in the high fidelity home market as well as the professional studio arena. Manley's Chino, California factory employs nearly 50 people and encompasses every facet of design and production within its 12,000 sq. ft premises, including design, assembly, metalworking, finishing, PCB production, and importantly audio transformer design and manufacturing, a key component in any vacuum tube amplifier.

EveAnna Manley and Albert Schippits have been working together since 1999 and through their close manufacturer-dealer relationship have developed a mutual respect and admiration for each other's work and ethical business practices. To date, all Manley sales worldwide have been handled by EveAnna Manley herself, communicating with importers, dealers, and customers on a daily basis and exhibiting at numerous trade shows around the world. She also plays an important hands-on role at the factory leading the design team and working with ever-demanding production issues. This combined with her personal dedication to customer service answering thousands of customer inquiries left her with insufficient time for building and maintaining dealer relationships. It is for this specific reason that Albert Schippits was hired.

Starting with a focus on North American HIFI dealers, Albert Schippits will seek to stabilize and strengthen the existing network of dedicated Manley dealers and expand Manley presence into new territories not previously covered. Having a devoted Manley national sales manager will give dealers the personal attention they deserve.

Albert Schippits' first public appearance with Manley Labs will be at the January 2006 CES show at the Alexis Park Hotel, room 1502.

Albert Schippits may be reached at: sales@manleylabs.com Or by cell phone: (847) 400-7564

NEWS RELEASE 11/14/05 Peak Consult Announces the Zoltan

Processing, controlling and assembling of Zoltan is handled by skilled craftsmen within Peak Consult's facilities. Countless hours of measurement and critical listening are logged to correlate design theory and practice. Zoltan's impedance curve looks more like a purely resistive ribbon than a dynamic speaker, making use with any kind of amplifier easy. The final blend of art and technology have made Zoltan an uncompromising performer. Zoltan is a true State of the Art loudspeaker, able to recreate music with stunning realism, regardless of whether or not you are using small tubes or a big solid-state amplifiers.

Enclosure

The multifaceted enclosure is handcrafted in our own facilities by Danish artisans in a 1.5"- 3.0" HDF specially glued sandwich material covered by 1" solid hardwood. The side panels have been made out of "finger tapped" wood. Each wood panel has been hand-chosen, processed and assembled with traditional Danish fine woodcrafting techniques.

The geometrical design optimises the off-axis response while minimizing diffraction. In order to minimize internal standing-waves, there are no parallel front, back, top or bottom panels. The slant of the front panel aligns the phase and timing between tweeter, midrange and woofers.

Transducers

The Danish Scan-Speak tweeter is a non-Ferro fluid 1" soft dome, SD-2 motor, low compression design, and non-resonant chamber, modified here for our specific performance parameters to perform effortlessly.

The Danish 5" Audiotechnology midrange is hand-built specifically for optimal behaviour in the Zoltan's enclosure. The driver features a cone that has been uniquely shaped for this moving system and a vented magnet system that includes Symmetric Drive, optimising the linear directivity. It performs with peerless soundstaging ability.

The dual Danish 7" Audiotechnology woofer array is hand-built and specifically designed for Zoltan. The technology used in the moving system makes them very low-loss drivers. The magnet and ventilation system allows the drivers to reproduce very tight and extremely low frequencies.

Networks

The speaker includes an acoustical second order crossover in the tweeter/midrange section and also a second order in the midrange/bass section. Every component has been chosen for its sonic and musical behaviour, with no consideration for cost, most of them having been custom hand-built for Zoltan. The crossover is crimped and then hardwired with silver soldering and sealed to avoid microphony and to shield it from electrical and magnetic radiation from rest of the system. For the internal wire Peak Consult has chosen the best silver internal wire from Stereovox.

Conclusion

Zoltan boasts an extremely linear frequency response, on-axis as well as of-axis. This makes it a very accurate loudspeaker in a "Real World" environment. The woodworking is gorgeous, following in the tradition of fine Danish furniture. From the custom drivers, hand-made crossovers with custom hand-built components to the excellence of the design and execution of the fine Danish cabinetry, Zoltan will take you on a magic carpet ride into the very heart of the music and leave you wanting for nothing more.
