Your Investment in Natural Resources
Thank you for wanting to learn more about Wisconsin's proposal to increase fees for some of our hunting and fishing licenses.
Conservation groups urged us to pursue the fee increases to continue providing the excellent hunting and fishing opportunities that people have come to expect in Wisconsin. Without the proposed increases, we face a $20 million deficit in the fund that pays for conservation programs. The department would need to significantly reduce fish and wildlife management activities, conservation wardens and services in order to stay in the black.
Hunters' and anglers' longtime commitment to conservation has allowed Wisconsin to offer some of North America's best hunting and fishing. I hope you'll support the need for higher fees so Wisconsin can continue maintaining the hunting and fishing opportunities you enjoy and assure that they're there for your children and grandchildren.
Regards,
Scott Hassett DNR Secretary
