Email

Email is offered as standard when we develop and host a website. You have a choice of POP email accounts and email forwarding. Email does not cost any extra if you use us for your hosting. It is a free add on. We can offer virus scanning and junk mail filtering as optional extras at a small yearly fee.

Glossary for this page

• Email
  Messages, usually text, sent from one person to another via computer. E-mail can also be sent automatically to a large number of addresses
• Email forwarding
  When email forwarding is activated, messages sent to a certain email address are forwarded to another address. For example: Joe sends an email to webmaster@yourname.com. The message is forwarded immediately to you@your-ISP.com.
• Junk Email
  Unwanted mail often binned unread by uninterested recipients. Just the same as all the adverts you receive through your door!
• POP
  Point of Presence or Post Office Protocol. A Point of Presence is the place where an access provider or server administrator has a computer which provides access to a network or the internet and therefore dictates the telephone number your modem will need to dial to connect to a network or the internet. So if an Internet company says they will soon have a POP in Birmingham, it means that they will soon have a telephone number in Birmingham and/or a place where leased lines can connect to their network. Post Office Protocol refers to the way e-mail software gets mail from a mail server.
