Rogue River Spring Chinook Fishing Report!
4/21/06
Water temps have risen above 50 degrees with evening water temps hiting 53 degrees. Good numbers of fresh Springers showing in Lower River. Today most boats landed 2 big Spingers of 24 to 30 pound class. Thats some real nice Springers! Most fish showed they had been milling or dropping Sea Lice. Sea Lions are not much of a problem, which to me means they have some fish cornered somewhere else. Which then tells me there lots of Springers close by.

4/1/06
Rogue River water tempuratures are hovering around 48 degrees in the Lower Rogue River, flows are high but fishable. A few boats have reported catchs to 3 nice Spring Chinook per day. A guide I talked to yesterday had at least one Spring Chinook everyday out. Springer fishing is about to break loose, get your dates in.

Springers being caught every day now with multipule hookup days. Yesterday a 35# Springer was boatedjust above Lobster Creek. Water is warming with weather change. Today was 65 degrees and bright sun. Overnight lows inland are rising. Get ready there coming! Good dates open, give us a call 541-247-4138

There have been the first few Spring Chinook of 2006 caught in the Lower Rogue. Water Temps are still to cold for a full fledged Springer bite. River temps are in the 43 to 46 degree range and need to be 48 degrees and above for good Springer action. A week of warm sunshine should do the trick.

There has been alot of negitive rumblings in the press about no Salmon Fishing on the coast this year. This refers to off shore fishing for salmon both sports and commercial seasons. In river seasons will be very good ones as our returning salmon will not be harvested in the ocean. We will have bigger returns to the Rogue River. The forecast is for 34,000 Springers to return to the Rogue River this year, however that is with a Ocean Commercial harvest in place. Without this commercial harvest look for the Rogue's run to be even larger. In 2005 the Spring run was counted at 18,000 expect twice the number this year! We had a great year for Springers in 2005 with very good catches, one of our best years ever. This was due to great water conditions. 2006 water conditions look on track to be great also. April - May - June is the time for Spring Chinook, give us a call we will set some dates aside for you! 1-800-348-4138

Looking ahead 2006 Fall Chinook runs should be the big winner if ocean seasons are curtailed which looks like the only way it going to go. The Rogue River will have a much increased run of both Chinook or King Salmon and Silvers this year beginging in early July. Listen to your guide, its going to be a great year for in river King Salmon fishing on the Rogue River.
