Jaime Mattos scored 15 points and Leilani Galdones and Kanisha Bello 12 apiece to spark Kamehameha to a 55-44 victory over Hilo on Saturday night.

In other Big Island Interscholastic Federation girls basketball games on Saturday, it was: Honokaa 54, Laupahoehoe 25; Konawaena 48, Keaau 12; Hawaii Prep 34, Pahoa 25; and Kohala 40, Ka'u 32.

At UH-Hilo Gym, Kamehameha (7-3) used its athletic talent and deep bench to fight past the turnover-plagued Vikings (6-3) before about 500 fans. The talented Warriors led 15-14 after the first period before the hosts battled back and carried a 25-24 lead into the intermission.
