Bend
Oregon, located
on the banks of the Deschutes River and is the Largest City
in Central Oregon with a population of 52,029. Bend is also
the County Seat for Deschutes
County, population 115,029.
The high desert climate consists of
clear, sunny days and cool comfortable nights. Temperature:
Monthly Ave. Low: 22ƒF Monthly Ave. High: 82ƒF. Hottest month
is July and the coldest month is January. The driest month
is October and the wettest month is December with an average
annual precipitation: 11.700 which is mostly snow.
For recreation, the choices are many
and varied. One example is Mt.
Bachelor, which is half an hourís drive away from Bend.
With 70 runs, several day lodges and seven express chairs,
Mt. Bachelor
is currently ranked among the top 10 ski areas in the country.
A quieter brand of enjoyment may also be found in birding,
picnicking or just strolling through down
town Bend. For those who prefer shopping, Bend possesses
several shopping malls, a factory outlet center and many specialty
shops. Bend also provides entertainment in the form of community
theater music festivals, and the Obsidian Opera
Company,
as well as the ìMunch and Musicî concert series during summer.

For Education, Bend offers wonderful
educational opportunities to the Central Oregon community.
The Bend-La
Pine School District serves three distinct communities:
Bend, Sunriver and La Pine. The District supports a population
of over 13,000 students k-12. Central
Oregon Community College offers junior degrees, 2-year
technical certificates, and four-year degrees through many
of Oregon's major universities at the local University Center.
New to the area this year is Central
Oregon State University. A Branch Campus of Oregon
State University. This new campus offers Central Oregon
residents the ability to pursue a degree without having to
move out of the Bend or Central
Oregon area.
