5K run and Big Tex mile

The Sixth Annual State Fair 5K Run and Big Tex Mile will be held opening weekend of the Fair, Saturday, September 30, 2006. Coursing through Deep Ellum and the Lower Swiss Avenue neighborhoods, the race ends and begins at Exposition Plaza – adjacent to Fair Park at Exposition and Canton.

Designed for the family and the serious runner alike, and supporting State Fair Scholarships, the program has awarded more than $1.6 million in grants since 1992. College scholarships are available for deserving students who have exhibited at State Fair livestock shows and to outstanding graduates of four Fair Park-area high schools: Lincoln, Madison, North Dallas and Woodrow Wilson.
