Frequently Asked Questions

This section outlines three major areas that you may find helpful when trying to solve a domain name related query. There are four main areas covered.

  • Domain Name Basics – The first questions you might have when looking at domain name registration. This section covers questions like “What is a domain name?”, “How do I get one?” etc.
  • Domain Name Registration Issues – This is the section you’ll go to if you have any issues that need resolving after you’ve registered your domain name, or during the registration process.
  • Complaints – Before, during or after domain name registration, an issue may arise where you wish to lodge a complaint about a registrar/reseller or another registrant. This is where you’ll find the answers to the most common questions.

The .au Domain Name Suppliers' Code of Practice sets out the rules for conduct of auDA accredited registrars and their appointed resellers.

If you have further questions that are not covered in the above sections, please contact us.

PLEASE NOTE: auDA does not provide registration services. If you want to transfer, redelegate or otherwise change the status of your domain name, you should contact your registrar of record.

To find out the registrar of record for a domain name, use the public WHOIS service.
