Mission: Immersible

Hawaii Island students used to spend months to build remote operated vehicles, only to get few opportunities to see them in action. School ROV competitions, where students completed underwater missions, only happened on Oahu -- until now.

The island's schools and various public and private organizations came together this year to put together the first Big Island ROV Regional Competition at the Kona Aquatic Center on Saturday morning.

Pic Hopkins, Wildcats cruise past Waveriders
Sophomore forward Mana Hopkins scored 13 points and junior forward Jazzmin Awa-Williams added 11 as Konawaena easily topped neighborhood rival Kealakehe 47-17 in Big Island Interscholastic Federation girls basketball Tuesday.

Hopkins did most of her damage in the first half for the Wildcats, who end the regular season at 10-1. Hopkins knocked in 10 points during a 21-0 Konawaena first-half run that gave the Wildcats a 23-2 lead with 3 minutes, 2 seconds left in the second quarter.

"It just seemed like I had the ball a little more often, and I had a little more time (to take a shot), and when I had it I just did my thing," Hopkins said.

A 3-pointer by Kealakehe (3-7) sophomore guard Nicolette Palacol broke the string, but Konawaena, with its relentless defense, was never challenged the rest of the way.

What do you think about having a fleet of marked police cars instead of officers driving their own vehicles? (Also share your opinion at our forums)
The police should drive marked police cars.
The department should have a mix of marked cars and also still use some personal vehicles.
The current police cars, which are personal vehicles with blue lights on top, are fine.
