we continue to grow quality vinifera grapes and make premium wines for you to enjoy.
The winery can be proud of the wines they have produced.

We recommend them all.. here's two that top our list
Vivacious 2004 defn: Full of life and spirit
This blend combines tank and barrel fermented sur lie style Pinot Blanc (96%) with a hint of Pinot Gris (4%). The fruit comes from our Home Lot Vineyard which is situated on Naramata Road. A combination of winemaking techniques have been used to produce this blend including barrel and stainless steel fermentation, malolactic fermentation, and stirring of the lees in barrel (sur lie style). Vanillin, toasty French oak, floral and perfume on the nose, with an apple and mineral finish.
Voluptuous 2003 defn: Full of delight or pleasure to the senses
A delicious blend of 67% Merlot and 33% Cabernet Franc, 100% barrel aged for 18 months in 1/3 new French Oak complete with malolactic fermentation to add complexity. Fruit for this vintage is harvested from our Boothe Road Vineyard, a site with an amphitheatre shape and southern aspect overlooking the village of Naramata. This full-bodied blend shows warm dark fruit aromas of plum, cassis, and blueberry lace with chocolate, vanillin, and spice. A firm palate, mellow ripe tannin structure, and a long toasty finish complete the seduction of the senses.

Lang Vineyards Sold to Holman Farms
November 7/05 — Guenther and Kristina Lang proudly announce the sale of Lang Vineyards to Holman Farms. Holman Farms currently owns Benchland Vineyards, Mistral Estate Winery, and Spiller Estate Winery. Guenther Lang, who founded Lang Vineyards 15 years ago as BC's first Farmgate Winery, will remain with the new organization and continue to have responsibility for operations at Lang Vineyards. Each of the wineries will keep their individual identities with site specific winemakers and unique styles of wines. Both Holman and Lang see this as a huge step forward as fruit from the combined vineyards will be directed to the wineries with the developed markets. With over 80 acres in production and more plantings in process, the combined family of wineries will make this the largest producer of wines on the Naramata Bench.

The creative tension between opposite forces is an inexorable part of life. It can turn good to great, and great to memorable. At Church & State we balance tradition and change in our winemaking: We respect the time-honoured notion that wine is made in the vineyard, yet aren't afraid to work with new grape varieties. We age our wines in the finest French oak, but also use the latest in cellar tools and techniques. We strive to craft world class wines. Welcome to Church & State.
