Pic Waiakea explosion stops Hilo
Clinging to a 3-2 lead, Waiakea's baseball team secured a first-round bye in the Big Island Interscholastic Federation tournament Wednesday at Hilo by scoring 10 runs in the sixth inning en route to a 13-4 win over the Vikings.

Kealakehe's Spencer Mendoza, above, won his singles match 6-0, 6-0 against Hilo's Sean Greenlaw Wednesday at Kealakehe during the Big Island Interscholastic Federation boys tennis championships. But the Vikings won the team title by defeating the Waveriders 3-2. Also, Hilo defeated Waiakea 3-2 to win the girls championship. Complete results will appear when they are received.
