The Gladstone Region, in the state of Queensland, is a unique area of Australia.
The region includes rugged national parks, long sandy beaches, picturesque islands and one of the seven wonders of the world, the Great Barrier Reef.
Nearby is the historic Town of 1770/Agnes Water. Here you will find the heritage headland with magnificent views north across Bustard Bay and overlooking a calm water inlet anchorage. This is the departure point for day cruises to the beautiful coral bay Lady Musgrave Island.
The Discovery Coast is certainly worth a visit for its great history, magnificent scenery and friendly hospitality. “Captain Cook” still lands there every May for the 1770 Commemorative Festival. There are excellent opportunities to get off the beaten track by Four Wheel drive into Eurimbula National Park featuring rainforest close to the beach, and southward to the Deepwater National Park with a beautiful coast and freshwater wetlands."
