The forge sleeps up to 9 people. We have 5 bedrooms (4 double/twin and 1 large single), 3 en suite shower rooms and 1 communal bathroom. The fully equipped kitchen has all major appliances, such as cooker, large fridge and separate freezer, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine, tumble drier and a breakfast bar. The spacious dining room seats 12 people and has an wood-burning fire, exposed beams and a cd player. The main salon has a television, DVD (family DVD's available Free of Charge) and a playstation, with selection of games available. There is also a comfortable double sofa-bed, if required. French doors lead to the terrace, where you have magnificent views of the Mont Dore and Cantal mountain ranges. There is also a second lounge set aside for reading and relaxation. The pretty courtyard garden has an area with table and chairs for summer dining and a barbeque. The round 15ft swimming pool is sunken into the patio and is fenced with lockable gate to restrict access to toddlers. Sun loungers are available. We also have a games room with a large selection of indoor and outdoor activities and games and a full-sized table-tennis table. La Forge also has a private car park and a summer meadow, where you are welcome to visit our pet goats or play football or badminton. Why not bring a picnic and simply sit and watch the world go by as you lay in the warmth of the summer sun. All of our holiday groups receive a welcome pack of tea, coffee, milk, sugar, wine, bread and local cheese. All bed linen, towels and kitchen linen are provided, and there are options for cleaning services, pet and baby sitting services, as well as the unique La Forge Holidays guided walks, as we are surrounded by stunning forest and mountain walks

In this unspoilt region of magic and mystery you will find plenty of interesting and varied activities. There are a number of equestrian centres offering various types of horse-riding experience or maybe try a trip down the Allier in a canoe, a wonderful way to see the region from the peaceful and tranquil river. For the real dare devils try parascending from the dormant volcano of Puy De Dome or hot air ballooning over the Volcano National Park. Visit one of the many plan d'eau to swim in one of the clear cool mountain lakes on a hot summers day. Some of the larger lakes also offer the chance to take to the water in a sailboat or pedalo, as well as other sporting activities, such as tennis, volleyball or children's play areas. The parks also offer anglers the chance to indulge in their passion, although should you want a more serious angling adventure then you should try the Allier for its Salmon and Trout or one of the deep mountain lakes for the artic char, large carp or fearsome pike. Explore one of the local markets, where you can sample local life and also some of the local cuisine, or visit the various chateaux and museums in the area which cover all aspects of life and historical interest in the Auvergne. Why not plan a trip during the winter when the Auvergne becomes a paradise for skiing (cross country and downhill) as well as offering some more unusual spectacles such as waterfall climbing, car racing on ice and even ice fishing for artic char. There are many excellent restaurants and auberges in the local area offering a diverse range of exquisite cuisine starting around 10 euros a head. During the year there are many exciting festivals in the region such as the Roi de L'Oiseau festival in September, when the whole town of Puy en Velay re-enacts its renaissance past for five days with costumes, parades, markets, shows and activities for all the family - a real spectacular.
