The base specifications of the Extensible Messaging and Presence Protocol (XMPP) have been published as RFCs (see the specs page), and many XMPP extensions are defined in the JEP series produced by the Jabber Software Foundation. In addition, the following Internet-Drafts are under consideration within the IETF:
draft-ietf-sieve-notify-xmpp-00 (text | HTML) -- XMPP notifications for the Sieve email filtering language
draft-saintandre-atompub-notify-04 (text | HTML) -- transporting Atom syndication data over the XMPP pubsub extension
draft-saintandre-jabberid-00 (text | HTML) -- including XMPP addresses in email headers
draft-saintandre-xmpp-iri-04 (text | HTML) -- a URI scheme for XMPP
draft-saintandre-xmpp-pidf-03 (text | HTML) -- transporting Presence Information Data Format (PIDF) data over XMPP
draft-saintandre-xmpp-simple-07 (text | HTML) -- enabling basic interoperability between XMPP and SIMPLE
Older versions of these and other drafts are available in the attic.
