A technician normally visits the premises to ensure that the telephone line
is able to carry a strong, clear signal.
The ADSL technician will then connect the phone line to an ADSL modem and
the modem to the computer. If multiple client computers are to share
an ADSL Internet connection, a router is installed between the ADSL modem and
the computers.
ADSL broadband modems can either be purchased or rented. Many ADSL providers include the cost of the modem in their monthly service charge.
