NIPOMO COMMUNITY PARK
MASTER PLAN
The Nipomo Community Park Master Plan, when adopted, will
provide the footprint for future recreational development
at the park for the next 15 to 20 years. The master plan
process includes: (a) getting input from the community (through
a survey, public workshops, and public meetings), (b) mapping
the site's resources and determining environmental constraints,
(c) preparation of a physical and written plan for the park,
and (d) obtaining necessary project review (such as environmental
review).
To obtain community input, the County, with the help of
the Nipomo Citizen Advisory Council (NCAC), put together
a survey. In January 2004, the survey was mailed to randomly
selected Nipomo and Oceano residents. In addition, surveys
were conducted onsite at Nipomo Community Park. To review
the survey results, click
here.
Public workshops for the Master Plan began on March 3 and
4, 2004. The first two workshops invited participants to
help design the park as well as identify concerns. On May
5 and 6, 2004, a second set of public workshops were held
to present the survey results and three concept drawings
for future park development. The next step in the process
will be to take the concept drawings to the NCAC and the
County's Parks and Recreation Commission.

SAN LUIS OBISPO COUNTY
PARKS & RECREATION ELEMENT
The Parks and Recreation Element (PRE) is a long-term
plan for the County's unincorporated areas, identifying future
park and recreation projects. The PRE establishes policies
and programs to provide and maintain parks, recreation, and
natural areas within San Luis Obispo County.
The Draft Environmental Impact Report (DEIR)
has been prepared to address the environmental impacts of
the proposed project, including, but not limited to, biological
resources, cultural resources, agriculture, and air quality.
The public review period for the DEIR ends June 16, 2006,
5:00 p.m.
