A webmaster oversees a website from conception to drawing board to web and handles it all including hosting, setting up emails and ftp, and making sure the entire site works. The webmaster would also search engine optimize the site as well as submit it to the search engines.
In addition to the administration of the website, the webmaster may be responsible for coding the HTML, javascript, cgi scripts, or whatever else might be needed to operate the website efficiently.
The webmaster may also be responsible for the creation of graphics for use in the website & may work in conjunction with a graphic designer or web designer. In addition, the webmaster may be responsible for populating the site with content if necessary.
